PC freeze issues

oh well.. re-format #2 then...

Did you try the 24hr's on Prime95 x2 (You install the program and make another copy if it, then set the affinity on one copy to processor one and the other copy to processor two so that you stress both cores to the max)

i did it once with no problems through the night.. max temps were about 52 for the cpu core, but i am gonna re-format anyway.. i am almost convinced it is a software issue now...

yeah, i did re-format... i did it last night again, but instead of re-formatting, i just re-installed windows XP...

i did that, installed the basics again (gfx drivers, sound card), connected, and played fine for whole of last night with no freezes..... Must have been something wrong with a windows file somewhere...

For interest sake, did you remember to install your motherboards "chipset" drivers?

Sounds like you missed it and I didn't even pick up on it ;) It's a requirement for XP AFAIK ;)

yip, i did install, even updated them off the net before this last re-install...

all i did now was to install XP over my previous copy, and re-install all the programs i needed, and then it worked...

Always download drivers ONLY from the manufacturers web-site, NOT from Windows Driver update!!! If I let Windows Update install drivers from their website I get occasional BSOD's and problems!

Anyway glad it worked out :D

they were from gigabyte's website... but i am also glad its finally over!!! time to frag noobs again!!!!
