PC game suggestions for a noob...

Just remembered that I also played Tiger Woods PGA and F1 2011 as well. I guess I like the sports games.

Anyone know of a good cricket and rugby game?

I'll try out a few of the aforementioned games as well...

Agreed here, but the most fun I had with Trackmania is building maps, running servers , modding cars etc. But like you said, it's not quite realistic, but damn good fun and addictive.

So DJ... give it a shot :)
 
Hmmm. Being on a capped account means that downloading these games is a little difficult. They're in excess of 10gigs each by the looks of things, and I've only got 100 gigs. 85% of that cap is already consumed by video downloads.

Busy downloading Trackmania now. At least that doesn't appear to require a mountain of cap...
 
Trackmania is the most infuriatingly addictive game I've ever played, and so so so worth it. But ignore all the other suggestions, get minecraft, download the Direwolf20 pack from ftb, begin watching his videos and in 2 or 3 weeks you'll have learnt enough to play the same game for life.

This is why I specifically indicated for a noob. Not only does that game look like the biggest heap of crap under the sun, but spending 3 weeks just to learn about a game that I may or may not enjoy sounds more like the kind of thing I'd consider torturing people with...:D

I hope you not referring to Trackmania, 'cos you learn it in 30seconds.. That's what I enjoy about it, simple :) Actually a lot of girls here on myBB play/or played it.. even xenophon :)

Minecraft is Lego.

Although Portal is one of the best games ever made. Especially the first. But looks like you aren't into puzzle games with a sense of humour.

If you get a console get a PS3 with Heavy Rain and Uncharted.
 
Puzzle games don't interest me in the least little bit. I deal with enough puzzles without choosing to be entertained by them as well...:D

Thought as much... I could never get into games like that, prefer spending my time at work thinking ....

Hell the only other game I really loved was Bioshock, but since the second one... I gave up on that too.

Here's what I know I enjoy:

Racing games (I even own a steering wheel I've never used)
Sports games (wish there were decent rugby and cricket games)
GTA
Never played Call Of Duty or similar big title games. Ever. I don't know if I'd enjoy them. Might have to try it out.
Splinter Cell (I played this once before and it was pretty cool)

I'd like a game to have impressive graphics, to have a story that keeps one engaged, and doesn't involve buying a heap of crap all of the time to continue playing.

Online or offline I don't mind, but I've never actually played an online game before in my life...

I'm open to suggestions to point and click adventures. I particularly enjoy one's with lost of humour, but the horror and sci-fi genres appeal to me as well.

You have to play the half life series, The Elder Scrolls Skyrim is a must, Saints row IV, Metro 2033/Last light,Max Payne 3, Sleeping dogs, BF3 (single player), Just Cause 2, Fallout new Vegas
