pc gaming is a nightmare

My Fx5200 did the same thing. And that's because I overclocked it a bit too much.

Did you overclock your Gfx card at all? If you did then set everything back to default, reboot and it should be fine.

Now that venom is the best advice so far,yes i did overclock the card
But not tbya program but by a .dll file and a registry change
Its goin to be hard to fine a way back to not clock it,but i will try

thanks again for the wonderful advice.
but sadly i dont think that is the problem as it was doing it a while back without the overclocking

Check to make sure all the cables from your power source to other hardware in your PC is properly connected... Otherwise you could have power shortages on several parts of ur PC. It happend to me once while i was installing a new GFX card and i bumbed my hard-disk power source cable...
Hope this help... ur prob sounds pretty fcking annnoying...

AKA "I have an illegal copy" I'm sure. In that case, suffer aloooone. It's unforgivable to dig into m$ profits like that! :)

for your information,it is a legal copy,in a way as my laptops xp cd i used on my pc,So there,2 pcs in one house, with one copy of xp,I dont think microsoft will penilise me for usin it on another pc,Hell it cost 1500,

update: the fan on the grafix card was not spinning anymore,I think this is the prob,I will take the fan apart clean it from the dust aand fix the fan, then i will try again. If the same problem persist,I will ask for a member to donate me a grafix card,Anyone feeling generouse

If the fan was not spinning you're lucky the card works, at all!

Sounds like a OS problem, so run the latest patches you can.
Otherwise it can also be a driver issue.
Failing this, check your hardware, start with the hard drive / memory, maybe even mobo, for some odd reason.

When last have you done a decent defrag / optimise of your system?

shy a brick.i fixed the fan and now it does work but it only freezes now and then, but not as much as it use to freeze.Does this mean i still have a problem.or should i just carry on.
Must i just buy a new grafix card,or should i repair the one i have.

I want to buy me a ps3,cash is hard to find on trees nowadays
buy the ps3 or get a good grafix card mmmm,

hahahaha.... no seriously you didn't mean that did you

Your PC won't play games so you are going to spend a fortune on a PS3 which also doesn't play any decent games... man that's classic......

To help with your other problem, have you tried everything suggested? If you have it would be nice to let the guys know that it didn't or did work....

SP2 is much more stable than SP1 so I echo the sentiments of the other guys saying that you should install SP2 and update all your drivers with the new ones.

Also check that the RAM is the same make and try with only one chip in....

:side note: Yes M$ will be upset that you are running multiple pc's on one licence.

dablakmark8, Firstly if you're overclocking your gfx card and the fan isn't working it's going to fail. Definitely.

Secondly, don't waste your time with that gfx card, I had the 5500 it sucks a$$. All the nvidia 5*00 series were c@rp, Even if you just go buy a R300 7300 or something similar you wont regret it.

And I have to back Gavin there as well, Before you start fanboying the PS3 I strongly suggest you go do some investigating. You're not going to like what you find. The list of PS3->360 owners is growing every day.

Hey man you've got my back today I see :D Twice in 10 minutes....

Could be that your PC is just crap. :D
you can't possibly to upgrade too a 5500, you can only down grade or move to it, not upgrade.

If you don't want t install SP2 then off with you and your deserve the slow downs.SP2 brought DX9.0c with it as well, add to which even if you wanted move to a 5500 it wouldn't install with the latest drivers as they need SP2 installed.

I suggest you remove your PC from your desk, take the 6,5K you were going to spend on a PS3 and get another PC. That celery 3GHz is slower than a Pentium3-S 1.GHz you wouldn't be complaining that games don't work on a Pentium3 would you?

I am not a fanboy for the ps3,But i am a fan of sony corperation
I prefersony products,If you look at all my past threads you will see that i do give a choice,I merly just give pros and cons, but dont call me a fanboy as that is for laaities to argue about which is better,
I love my pc,and i love consoles. It just happen to be sony.
I never really new that sp2 was connected to the grafix part of a pc.I always thought it was for security

I did install service pack 2 already but there was so much probs with my pc that i had to take it off,
I will change my grafix card and update the ol pc,thanks guys

My pc still freeses,so the problem is still there.
But funny enough before i went on holiday,I took out my hardrive and switched the mains off.So my pc ws without power for 4 weeks
Can this cause this problem,I know that the onboard battery for the setting is fine.

Another thing is that my memory is 2 ifferent manufators.
But this did not give a problem before
So any advice ,an thaks for the feed back guys,i appreciate it

borrow a video card or something.

and no having a pc off for 4 weeks can not cause problems unless it is connected to some sort of thing that regulates a life support system. (yeah always check before you unplug something)

i personally think your vid card needs replacing.

when i came back from holiday,i had to restart my pc 4 times ( i remember it was like tryin to start a car that stands for a month) There was a domestic worker that came over to my apartment to clean it,I dont think she tried to switch the pc on.As there was no hardrive in,And i unpluged a coupl of plugs.

I guess i will just have to buy a grafix card,I cannot borrow one,i dont know people in pe,I just work here,so of to the store

There are so many grafix cards out there.but what is good value for money
under a R1000 rand,That all i am willing to give out,I still need to buy me a new motherboard and a faster processor,

My video card doesn't have a fan of its own as such; it stopped working ages ago. However I found strapping an old PSU fan to work quite well. :)

I think if you were to stop overclocking the video card then the problem would sove itself without you needing to spend money to buy a new one.
