PC Link Computers: Legit?

Yeah don't buy from these clowns.
I actually bought a mouse and keyboard from them previously with no issue. It's clear something happened and they just cut and run. Still using the mouse and keyboard (Corsair K63 mechanical keyboard / lapboard and a Corsair Dark Core Pro SE).

Neither cheap but both arrived (probably a year back).

Yeah they took a runner afaik
Oh no, I saw the warning signs as a former customer myself. I spoke on the phone to Garth. I had emails back and forth with the brave and completely naive logistics manager they hired to sort out their backlog. I have heard the exact same excuses.

This is all too familiar as someone who has also been affected by the Sybaritic meltdown, and the Sahara shutdown before that, and PE Technologies implosion before that. We've all seen people playing the same roles over and over again when the gravy train stops running

EFT's cannot be reversed once it is value in the recipient's account. A reversal requires consent of all parties.
This is wrong. EFTs CAN be reversed and one of the smaller banks (not gonna name names) is notorious for doing it for scammers' accounts. Most personnel however don't know about it but if you can get to the right person, usually fraud department, they'll reverse it for a fee if the money is still in the account and there's even a schedule for it.

Internal same bank transfers make sense as they can control it end to end.

Interbank transfers basically is then sending a nice formal letter asking them politely to pay back the money and is an entire process.

It’s not so much a reversal as a whole new transaction upon request to flip the balance over.

PASA and the Banking Ombud consider EFT credit transactions final in scenarios where the customer themselves legitimately authorised the payment (in error or otherwise) and the recipient bank is unable to intervene before the funds are value in the recipient account. In most cases the recourse is usually directly against the recipient of the funds by legal process (ie. undue enrichment etc).

That is how it works and it's not a letter but an electronic request if I'm not mistaken. The recipient bank then EFT's the amount back to the originating bank. There is even a turnaround time for this which is something like 5 days but with the caveat it must be done before 40 days from the transaction.

Yes legitimately authorises in good faith. That doesn't hold when fraud has taken place or money is sent to the wrong account. You can ask around there are people who've had funds reversed from their accounts. Banks have a lot more leeway today to conduct investigations and control transactions than in the days when cheques were written.

It can be anything whether letter or phone call or email or whatever communication method is available, but the recipient needs to given approval for the reversal to happen.

I would imagine it differs very circumstantially.

Also not worth the money to have it done, rather just reach out yourself and explain your cock up.

Legal precedent shows that banks have not or where they have, have acted improperly. Each situation is different however there are reasons why court orders are sought for unjust enrichment. Usually an official looking bank communication is enough but often it’s not.

It can be but it can also be a banking instruction like for EFT only in reverse. It does not require the approval of the recipient and only the recipient bank which in most cases will comply. As a result of our anti money laundering legislation banks were given a lot of leeway. They can conduct investigations not even the police have authority to conduct that would otherwise violate all privacy laws and freeze or reverse transactions for which a court order would normally be needed.

i think you’re conflating different issues now. Send me R100k by mistake and we can do an experiment and see if you can get it reversed post clearance.

Sure if you dispute it not, but now you're conflating different issues. EFTs can be reversed unexpectedly. This is a known issue such that people I spoke with the other day transferred the money elsewhere so they can't be scammed. Someone else had it happen twice. First time account was frozen and he couldn't pay bond because some corporate incorrectly transferred to his account. Second time he was scammed and withdrew the money. Bank called him and said the transaction was reversed he owed them money. He told them sorry not his problem and never heard from them again.

PASA, the Banking ombudsman and the courts have policy & legal precedent which they follow. Your friend might want to get a lawyer if he feels that he's being taken advantage of.

Hello, I know it's an old thread but I need assistance with finding out where PC Link sourced Hisense TVs from. I purchased a TV from PC Link in 2020. The TV was sent for repairs in May 2023. The TV was working before I sent it to Hisense but it is completely stuffed now. Hisense wants to credit the outlet, which in turn would credit me however PC Link has closed down. Hisense check with Rectron and Atlas but those outlets did not find my serial number. How can I get info on the supplier. PC link was a reliable store at the time of my purchase and I made a few purchases from them prior. They also advertised a vast range of Hisense TVs in 2020 and even had an official Hisense reseller logo on their site.

Why would you send a working TV in for repairs?
