We busy with a Project where we have to record & stream Audio from a Sound system. There's currently 2 locations that we need to setup, One is going to be recording the sound using a Raspberry Pi and the Other a Normal Windows PC. So far on the location with the Pi we connected the sound from the Sound System (AMP) but because of the volume it's causing static/noise on the recording.. We can't adjust the volume on the sound system as that will affect the speakers, so we need a way to only lower the sound on the line connected to the Raspberry Pi.

Any suggestions on how this can be done? Maybe a small mixer or a stereo cable with volume control? will this work?

What sound desk do you have?

If you have a digital desk with spare outputs, you can always duplicate your output and record directly from that instead of from the AMP. This is how I do it at our church and it works great. I do have to mention that we have an external interface (M-Audio Delta 66) and we can set the input level on the PC.
