PC Zone Pinetown?

been burned by unknowns before ....... I'll let others be the guinea pigs this time around.

I only started using PCZone after I'd heard from friends and family ..... good thing they turned out pretty reliable :D

My LCD search continues. mitabyte has a 19" samsung lcd (Samsung SyncMaster 920NW ) going for R1319. how does this compare to the Acer 19" from pc zone?

PS: the samsungs contrast Ratio is 700:1 compared to 2000:1 in the acer.

Plz advise

When I get my 2nd LCD I'm getting another Acer ..... very impressed. And they have a fetch-repair-return warranty too :D

Been to mitabyte a few times. Shop is tiny!! just a counter basically lol! prices are quite good though but wouldnt get a whole system from there. Just components.

Think i'll settle for the acer, dont really trust mitabyte. What is contrast ratio and is it important?

some info here

The contrast ratio is a measure of a display system, defined as the ratio of the luminance of the brightest color (white) to that of the darkest color (black) that the system is capable of producing. A high contrast ratio is a desired aspect of any display, but with the various methods of measurement for a system or its part, remarkably different measured values can sometimes produce similar results.

Contrast ratio ratings provided by different manufacturers of display devices are not necessarily comparable to each other due to differences in method of measurement, operation, and unstated variables.[1] Manufacturers have traditionally favored measurement methods that isolate the device from the system, whereas other designers have more often taken the effect of the room into account. An ideal room would absorb all the light reflecting from a projection screen or emitted by a CRT, and the only light seen in the room would come from the display device. With such a room, the contrast ratio of the image would be the same as the device. Real rooms reflect some of the light back to the displayed image, lowering the contrast ratio seen in the image.

Now this whole not trusting mitabyte thing... if I was getting a SD card or a printer then PCZone would not provide the warranty anyway. It would be with the manufacturer so what is the diffs?

Hey I am a PCzone fan but only because of their prices...

problem is, you get chancers who will sell you a refurbished whatever, claiming it's new ..... I'm not saying Mitabyte would but you never know who would.

True. They do have a section on their website for refurbished goods though... suppose it is they grey area that is worrying.

Ya i saw that, plus the shop looks very untidy with all these old crts lying around, dont ask me why. Felt very uneasy buying expensive things from there

Thanx for the help. Think I'll go for the acer until some one convinces me about the samsung:D

Just compare the visual quality first always...

You'd find a 3000:1 with 2ms Acer and a 3000:1 with 2ms Samsung... Samsung will still look much better, by far... Even if the Samsung has worse specs, it will still be visually pleasing, the numbers don't mean much all in the far end... I've seen Acer screens with better specs than a Samsung... The Acer was too damn bright which couldn't be adjusted well and the colour distortion was terrible..

Also, walk in a shop and feel the screens, it's materials... Acer feels damn cheap
Ask anyone, techi's or normal people, Samsung is a more trusted brand known for quality..

Until that changes. I'll only buy Acer notebooks over Samsung ;)

I just love the looks of samsungs. . keep looking at it in Incredible coruption

Hey look man, the best thing to do, is look at both and compare :)

EDIT: All I'm going to say is, don't boil it all down to specs :)
