I had a problem with my brand new computer not shutting down correctly. tried everything that wouldn't void my warrenty. so I took it back to pc zone the next day (today). This what happened!!

Took my computer back to Pc Zone back today. had a hectic argument with the the "technical staff" and manager who kept repeating the warrenty as if I was an idiot. Tried explaining to them to check the obvious things like bios, drivers etc. anyway they tell me i should come back on monday coz the cpu is defective (10 outta 200 appently) and they have to ship the replacement from ireland. So i decide to leave the pc there. when i drive home and just reach there. 30 minutes away, the manager phones and tells me they just had to flash the bios because someone at the workshop forgot!!!!!!!!

I OFFICIALLY HATE PC ZONE! Cheap prices but the worst service I ever experienced!!!!

Not that I'm condoning the service but at least they were honest with you and got back to you in 30 minutes.

Ja, problem solved. I wish more places would jump on things that quick.

I know they may be slow and obnoxious (some of them) but when I bought this current PC there was a cockup. I got home and noticed that the pc was a different model than the one I ordered so I opened it up to find none of the extras I had bought. I phoned right away but it was after 5 and they were closed. Phoned first thing on Sunday, they told me bring it back. When I got there, they apologised, gave me a couple of freebies and paid the petrol :D So I can't say that they didn't make up for their stuff up :D

a less honest company wouldve flashed the bios when they realised their mistake, then sat on it for a few days, then phoned you up and told yout he cpu was replaced and everybody wouldve been happy, including you.

why?
because they did what they said they were going to do, and done it on time, and it fixed the problem.

so, in a way, by flashing the bios then phoning you up and you having to drive back has p1ssed you off enough to post here. so did it make you happy? not sure there...

p.s. i dont buy the bios flashing fixed it story they told you. but if that is what they said they done then so be it.

I have to disagree. Nothing makes up for poor service, it shouldn't be accepted, as it just becomes the norm. Sure the prices are good, and yes I have bought stuff there too, but nothing that runs the risk of requiring after-sales support or backup. The service at the payment counter is bad enough.

Well this is simply a case of you get what pay for. The prices are cheaper and the service matches their prices. But even though the service is poor, the majority of customers will still buy from them. And that's purely based on their prices. If you want better service, pay a premium and shop elsewhere. That's how it goes.

They only did this because I managed to get hold of some regional manger or something. They weren't goona even look at it on that day,

Yeah guess you right but any company whether it being cheap or not should offer decent service to customers.

Not asking for them to bend over backwards, just be fair to the customer.

I for one side with PC Zone here... they do clearly lay out the warranty policy when you buy the PC/component from them. The fact that they did not drop everything and look at the PC there and then seems to have annoyed the OP. I do not know of many companies that would look at it immediately... in fact most would need to send it to their head office or technical department in another province.

As also stated the OP got his PC back before the weekend. They could very easily have covered themselves and got it back on Monday. As for it only happening because of the regional manager is a bit of a weird comment as my understanding is that there are only two branches in Ballito and Pinetown, so not sure who this regional manager is.

Yes, complain about shocking service, but damn this was far from shocking!

Ok you do have a point about the warrenty, but I honestly fnd it ridiculous to sell a pc with incompatable hardeware then argue with the customer to make it look like it was my fault because I did not purchase the OS in store. I honestly have not had such treatment from a store before.

As for the regional manger thing I just assumed because this person was higher than the store manager.

but they fixed your laptop.. how else could they be fair to you? What else did you want besides a working laptop?

OP, do you mind clarifying what the "hectic argument with the the "technical staff" was all about? This seems to be the crux of your complaint but you have failed to elaborate. Everything else they did seems to be good service...
