PCMCIA and Express 54

Hi - annoyingly i'm currently stuck with an express 54 slot on a new laptop and a pcmcia iburst modem card. Apparently the USB adaptor available from ELAN works with every data card and modem except iburst...

Anyone got any suggestions - a router isn't really an option since mobility is an issue. Is there any other way to get an iburst pcmcia card modem working with a laptop in this way???

There appears to be a new device on the market which might be of interest. You might be able to find it cheaper if you look around on eBay. You would need to contact the company to enquire whether or not it is compatible with the iBurst modem.

Here are two other more expensive products. It might be better just to sell your current modem and replace it with a suitable model.

Yeah, this is similar to that ELAN adapter. I think it's probably better to get a different modem - why anyone would get PCMCIA instead of USB anyway is another question anyway, but I guess clients are clients.

Apparently a lot of the problems with these adapters is to do with driver support for iburst on the adapter itself much like with routers that support the pcmcia iburst.
