Sunday is our big 'outtage' in EL.. from 6 am to 6 pm for maintenance ,weather permitting ... so I hope it rains

Once my son is finished school we are looking at a place in Beachview...The lengths people will go not to live in an area like your's.
Hurricane Irene knocked my dad's power out from Sunday to Thurday last week. I'm thinking a couple of dips around me aren't too bad.As long as your electricity doesnt go out for 7 days straight you should be happy

Did he also use Gas/Paraffin stoves etc. like us or did he have a generator, cause generators are like cheating lol.
I was actually enjoying the 7 day power outage when I pretended I was camping lol

Agreed, most people don't realise how lucky we have been. We bitch and complain about an hour or two but have yet to be hit by hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, volcanoes, etc. And then all the doom-sayers regarding Eskom and other local facilities have also been very quiet of late.Hurricane Irene knocked my dad's power out from Sunday to Thurday last week. All in all, I'll rather stay right where I am, thank you!
