Just read the article regarding MWEB cutting local transit links, and am wondering where iBurst fits in to all this?

Put bluntly, does iBurst have local peering with MWEB (assuming we're not already using MWEB in some way as a provider)? If not, what is being done?

EDIT: I see IS and MWEB have some peering in place for now - just can't remember who is being used for what!

iBurst is the voodoo child of mispelled technocrats and overpriced jet inspectors.

Maybe do a few trace routes to some websites that are known to be on MWeb's network.

I'll have a look tonight, from home.

beat you to it :D

does iBurst have local peering with MWEB

iBurst has been peering with MWEB at JINX for yonks. The peering agreement is covered in layers of dust.

We have been peering with anyone who wishes at JINX and each month send an email to Telkom, Vodacom, MTN and IS asking them to peer. Mostly they ignore our emails and phone calls.

If you are interested in seeing the traffic look at http://stats.jinx.net.za/

@rooi - is it possible to post up a screenshot of traffic 5 weeks prior to the switchover, and 5 weeks after, so we can see what it's like? :)

Thanks :)

Do a trace to www.mweb.co.za? Still via MTN?

Yup .. :WTF:

It's easier for me to access the MWEB sites on iBurst than it is through WA, which is supposed to be peering with them.

iGame servers

If you are a gamer, move over to the iGame servers: http://igameonline.co.za/

Tell me more...
Will I still be able to access game servers and related services at full speed when capped?
Does data to game servers count towards my bandwidth?
Any other benefits except for better latencies?
Who decides what games are hosted?

Cant seem to get onto DSTV's website (error 504). Dont know if its related to the peering or another problem.

Also trying to log into an online tiscali/mweb email account gives me 504 errors. Tried on Chrome and IE.

7 * * * Request timed out.

Using a VPN has allowed me to access my Mweb internet email account and open www.dstv.com

Can I please get some feedback from iBurst regarding the issue above. I am still getting "504 Gateway Timeout" errors when trying to open up www.dstv.com.
