Perks in Software Development Company

But I thought you loved your new job being a coder?

I do, there is a huge difference between loving what you do and how you are treated at the company.
In hindsight I think that is why people take me up the wrong way. So let me make myself clear.

I like what I do here, and that is the single motivating factor for me to come to work. Otherwise I would not even bother.

Moreover, this is a job that was originally meant to tide me over until I found something that pays more. Remember, I am taking home 40% less than I used to, its painful. There are not many benefits here. I thought it might be worth mentioning.

When I was younger I used to tolerate crap bosses, and all that, because of love for the job, but, now, like in the past, being passed over for promotion and increases, etc, it gets to you eventually.

As for how I was screwed now- they hired me to work on a key piece of technology. They estimated it would take me 8-12 months. I got it done by the beginning of June, the stuff was deployed at an event, and the success was reflected in their quarterly report, the company's profits were significantly higher. While I agree, I was just doing my job, a thank-you would have been nice, and not passing me over for a raise would have been better. I got neither. Instead they now have me idling my time away (hence why I have been so busy here) doing crap projects nobody wants to do or touch... I don't think that would inspire anyone at all.

You like playing with your thumbs? Is there a position open for me?

Some things we get and have access to:

Study leave, 13th cheque, overtime, work from home, flexi-time, awesome year-end parties, restaurants, ATM, car wash, pool tables, vending machines (coffee, snacks, medication), gym, salon, spa, sport clubs, doctor, optometrist, tax consultant, laundry & dry cleaning, tailor, florist, mobile, party, coffee & gadget shops.
We work at the same company? :p

Type of developers needed and location?

They need lots of Java developers, and located in West Rand.
Despite having learnt Java, they refuse to let me near any of it. Wish I knew why.

Finance, not Dev...

Good socials with open bar etc, fresh fruit & coffee, overtime benefits, food when working late.

The overtime is the best benefit...working stupid hours is much more tolerable if you know it means an extra couple weeks leave.

You seem like a very angry person. Perhaps that is (subconsciously) carrying across and you don't really notice it... :p
