[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

The u8h US isn't the same as ours so the US reviews may be deceiving.
Wanted to come and say the same. I was also deciding between the same two TVs but after reading and researching online that the US U8H that all the rate reviews are based on is not the same TV (or even panel) we get I gave it a pass.

I'm struggling to find the website now but you could put in the TV you are looking at and then you can select the region where you are in. It then shows you the specs for that region so you can compare against the other regions and their reviews. Will search some more and update my post if I find it.

Have set up the Apple TV, but motion is still… Off. Have tried with DStv app too.

It’s as if the picture (video) speeds up, speeds down, speeds up, speeds down, etc.

Anyone else? Wonder if this is the “processing” that was mentioned in one of the Takealot reviews?

I still can’t seem to get normal 24 or 60 FPS with no motion enhancements.

Vertical judder is also there.

Did you check this

It’s strange, and not exactly the typical soap opera effect. And I haven’t tried Apple TV (streaming platform) in question in the Reddit thread. I can only explain it by a random speeding up & down in the video/motion.

Will test against VIDAA soon, but remember, I could not remove the motion enhancements with VIDAA either when watching Netflix. I’ll try loading the DStv app or BritBox, and testing motion again.

Are you able to remove all motion enhancements, set everything to cinema with zero post-processing, etc., and check if Netflix has the motion and slight soap opera effect I’m referring to?

Anyone else seeing what I am?

Apple TV (device) has a lot of advanced video tweaking which I’ll also fiddle with more.

I can also test Apple TV on the LG OLEDs and Samsung QLED. Currently watching Masterchef via DStv app (which I was testing with on the Hisense via the Apple TV), and it’s so much better on the LG. May be colour settings (still need to tune the Hisense), but there’s just no enhanced motion at all.

I may also reset the Hisense and not agree to any of the services which enable more VIDAA functionality. I really just need it to be a screen with Apple TV doing all the processing deciding.

What were you watching on Netflix for me to compare and time code if possible.

Yes please send the Netflix info like @Lupus asked and I'll also try. I think I have everything switched off that I can.

Thanks guys. Series (wife’s) is Firefly, S02E03. One minute from 00:30, and one minute from 04:00.

LG 55” CX / OLED55CX video done, will do Hisense 65A8H soon with both VIDAA and Apple TV.

Okay tried that, I'm not seeing any motion issues, though I did notice this won't turn off using the Vidaa Netflix. Still not sure how to upload a video

Firefly as in one of the best Sci-Fi Tv shows ever? If it is that one then 1up for your wife, but I couldn't find it on Netflix.

I could find Firefly Lane, which looks more like a female show

Tested your timestamps and with Dolby Vision IQ I could see speedup and then returning to normal, no slowdowns.

Switching to Dolby Vision Custom with everything switched off it look fine to my eyes, no extra processing that I could see.

I found these settings suggestions from 4KFanatic, yes they are for the U8G, but it would be a good base to have a reference to start playing around and getting setting that you would like for your own setup. I'm going to use it a base for when we the TV is in it's place and then go from there. If they don't work then reset and try again :giggle:

Hisense 65A8H / VIDAA / Netflix.

The speed-ups & downs, and judder, is apparent. Have turned off all processing/motion I can find, and from what I can tell the only one left that might cause an issue is ‘Apply to this source only’ which I might need to change to all?

Is this how your all’s looks?

Hisense 65A8H / Apple TV 4K 2022 / Netflix Motion Test (4K SDR).

This is the best in my opinion. I could not pick up much enhancement/processing, if any at all.

Quite difficult to tell as super reflective with screen plastic still on.

Compare with the VIDAA video at around 00:35 when the guy starts speaking.

Hisense 65A8H / Apple TV 4K 2022 / Netflix Motion Test (Dolby Vision).

Similar issues to the VIDAA video. Weird motion in the beginning when she’s in bed. And again when the guy starts talking.

Apple TV is connected to a 4K/60Hz port using a quality cable.

Cable.

We should post all our motion-related settings (separate to colours/calibration).

Got to go.

@epah and I have warned about how Hisense is with motion processing, I guess this being an OLED tv put me in a hopeful mood, but there it is again.

Some people seem not to notice it, but it gives me motion sickness.

Out of interest what if you actually turn it on to smooth or film? Was watching a video about that

This seems very bright and mine was like that in Dolby Vision IQ. Changed it to Dolby Vision Custom which was darker but no motion processing that I could see. Dolby Vision IQ had all the smoothing and other stuff on which I could not switch off. Just checking as it might be the recording that looks super bright.
