[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

Guys can anyone please explain what I bought. I have a 43A6100UW model & I can't download apk's? No Google play store either. Is there any way around this?

It's quite simple, Hisense TV's do no support apk files, neither does it have access to the Google play store as it isn't running Android TV but their own custom VIDAA interface that only supports a select few apps. Your best for installing apk files would either be to buy an android tv box (MiBox S) and connect it to your TV or return it and get a Skyworth model that natively runs Android TV :)

So here is my take on all of this smart TV hype.
There is no such thing as a smart TV.
These TVs are the equivalent of a MAX Boeing. An accident waiting to happen. An illusion.
As posted above, just produce a decent display device . Keep the specialised stuff out of the display in a STB.

Then those that want it can buy the bells and whistles and those that don't can get the benefits of a decent high resolution display device.

What question MUST you ask when buying a SMART DEVICE?

Simple. It is this.
What is the Operating System used by this device?

That simple question will burst ALL the Smart Device Bubbles we choose to live in.

You can save yourself a lot of trouble and effort by just using a Chromecast, instead fiddling with the TV's buggy OS.

The Chromecast can stream everything you want, and is also getting regular firmware updates.

It's of the few pieces of tech I found so useful that I just had to buy one for relatives overseas as well.

I myself am also not all that hyped over this "smart" TV fad. Frankly I don't even need a tuner so it would just be a fancy big "monitor-like TV or "TV-like monitor" that I need.

I have a Chromecast that I won on this forum and it works quite well mostly, but can sometimes just feel as if I need to set it up all over again.

Personally I think, a high quality display with a tuner-less frontend coupled with a small miniITX media frontend would give me the least amount of trouble. Maybe slightly more costly but will last through technological incarnations for a while yet.

@Hisense_SA. Can you also send latest or confirm latest firmware for 65u7a as the DStv app doesn't work on any of them. We just bought 7 of them three weeks ago and it's disappointing that it freezes. According to system update, the TV is already in latest firmware, but not sure if that is correct.

I've sent you a link

Thanks for this. Did the update on Sunday and Netflix works flawlessly now.
Still having WiFi issues though as it still forgets my network password every time I put my tv off.

PM me your model TV and full firmware version so I can help you.

Yea well, won my fire tv cube shortly after buying my hisense and that is pretty much where all my media plays from...

Already on my third Hisense replacement in 2 years. Clearly there's a reason for their "amazing" 4 year guarantee. Can't tell the model number, because every time it is a different one as the life cycle is like 6 months or something. Current one is 50A6100UW.

Never, ever again. Definitely paying more for something decent like a Samsung or LG next time.

Yet my 5 year old Hisense is still chucking along and my other two year old one as well? There are forumites who've replaced multiple Samsungs as well.

Good Day

I am looking to buy a TV to use for streaming as well as for some social gaming when connected to a PC.
I am contemplating a 39-43", with a budget of around R4 000 - R4 500.

I just wanted to ask for any recommendations with regards to my purchase.
I know this is a Hisense specific forum but from reading a few posts here seems like you guys know whats up.

A few things I am contemplating are:
Brand: Samsung, Hisense, Skyworth
Display: Full HD vs UHD (4k) is it really worth extra cost at that size.
SmartTV vs TV Box (Or just leave PC connected)

Any recommendations, or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I have had my Hisense TV for almost 4 years now and have 0 hassles.

If you did not have a Hisense with extended warranty and your TV broke just after 2 years how would you replace it? Sounds like you have been unlucky with problems (not giving any context regarding what the issues were) and actually received proper service for replacing your faulty/unhappy products.

Wow.

This sort of issue is almost always associated with incoming power issues. High incidence of power cuts and the associated power surges. Aggravated by frequent load shedding.

What you need to do is get someone in to verify if there are any wiring issues in your home. Unbalanced 3-phase supplies, incorrect neutral distributions, bad connections, loose wires, etc.

Then, if you are exposed to more than usual power cuts, invest in proper surge protection, Class I on the incoming power, Class II in the main DB, and Class III surge protection on the power feed to all electronic equipment.

Thank would have been a valid point, but I've lived in 2 places in that time, same problems at the new place with a new TV.

Wow.

I did NOT receive proper service, thank you very much. I had to deal with the shop where the item was bought, who needed to file a claim and then request a replacement from Hisense. Hisense does not assist in this process whatsoever, even though the shop I bought the item from closed down.

Also, how is this a quality item if it keeps breaking all the time? I'd much rather have a decent product, instead of decent service fixing a garbage product.
