[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

Bought a Hisense A7100F 55" UHD Smart TV in Jan this year. I wanted a bigger TV at a decent price point and Hisense seem to fill that need.

I bought the unit off Loot and it got delivered. Set it up and turned it on. Immediately I noticed a faint glow on sides of the tv. It was only really noticeable with darker scenes. I had a 40inch hisense tv previously and I never saw something like this. So I packed it up and took it into their service center in Durban to get evaluated. When I say service center, it was a more of mini warehouse where their returned stock seems to come to. It took a bit of convincing that there was an issue, but they eventually logged the fault and said that Loot would dispatch a new one and pick up the old one (this didnt end up happening, but thats another story). When I turned on the new TV, same story.... The glow was still there. So I just accepted that as the way a Hisense tv would be.

I would be interested to see if anyone else can see a similar glow on the edges on their Hisense TV? My father recently purchased a 65 inch Samsung and there is definitely no glow when looking at similar scenes.

Based off this experience I don't think I will by a Hisense again unless its for my kids tv thats 40inches or less.
If you had bought that TV off Takealot you could have returned it within the 30 day window, no questions asked.

Loots return policy is inferior so I try not to buy anything high-end from them.

As for the TV itself, Hisense does play around with quality to compete on price so unfortunately there is no surprise that the Samsung is superior. The basic premise of a TV is that it has a screen on which content is viewed. That screen should be good, regardless of the price point because a non-glowing screen is not a bell or whistle that you need to pay extra for. Hisense needs to realize this. I have an entry level Samsung 4K tv and it’s screen is perfectly fine, so why can’t Hisense do this?

Random question, Anyone have the hisense TV's that come with Netflix...

Annnnny idea on how to change the quality to 1080p from 4k...?
Two options here...

1. Change Netflix package from Premium to Standard. Note that simultaneous screen viewing changes from 4 to 2 and I think you'll also lose Atmos sound (If you use it).

2. Limit the device speed on your router if it allows you to do so and you can stay on same package if you are watching on more than two screens at the same time. Note that this will affect all speeds on the device, not just Netflix.

Ok so that’s good news on the receipt at least. Not so good news on the Hisense side. Hopefully Tuesday they will feel like working. Good luck!
Ok I am sorted. Been trying to get a hold of Rubin at Hisense Cape Town since last week friday when I whatsapped the receipt to him. He ghosted me the whole time, let the phone ring a few times then reject the calls etc. This is on the cellphone and their landline.

Got hold of him yesterday morning on the landline. He promised to do the paperwork and call me in 1 hours time. He never called back, so I called again about 50 times, same story, doesn't pick up. Got in the car before 8 this morning and drove to Milnerton from Worcester. Went in and told him to give me my tv and the paperwork stating that it cannot be repaired, or I will moer him. Got my tv and the paperwork, told him that he is the worst piece of crap I ever had to deal with and left for Worcester.

Got to Game in Worcester, gave the manager the documents and said I want my credit NOW. She said that the she needs to send the paperwork and request for credit to Hisense first. I said NO. They can do it afterwards. After a few back and forth exchange of words, I got my credit and bought the 55u6g and HS212F soundbar bundle for R10 999.00

Credit was R8999, so only had to pay in R2000

Log into Netflix on a browser to access the settings. Under each profile you can adjust the playback settings.

The problem is that 1080P and 4K is bundled on the same setting so you can’t actually got from 4K to 1080P it seems. See attached.
ahhh damn.. guess gotta upgrade to a 50mb fibre package then? having packet loss while streaming in the 4k and trying to game

That’s a good result in the end. Basically you traded in your busted up tv after 3-4 years for a 2021 model. That’s the good thing about the 4 year warranty. The bad thing is actually dealing with Hisense to sort it out. But alls well that ends well and the new TV will have another 4 year warranty …;-)

The one question I have is: could you have gone straight to Game and made it their problem since that’s where you bought the TV? Or did you have to take the TV directly to Hisense?

Any comments on the 100” laser tv?
I saw a good review on the US model by Unbox Therapy but it was sponsored by Hisense so not sure if it was truly unbiased. Also, not sure if we get the same model here or not. I’d have to see this thing live before any judgement. Never seen it in a store. But I like the concept of a 100 inch screen for a reasonable price.

I think the best would be to take it to Game directly if you have the receipt. My receipt was faded, so Game would not help me. So I took it to Hisense directly for assessment. If the fault was something small I would have paid out of pocket for the repair. They however said it was the panel and is irreparable. Thats when I went digging to find the exact purchase date. Found this via a whatsapp chat history with my wife, and then went back to Game to request a receipt reprint, armed with the exact date and even time as well. Even after giving them this, I waited days for a response. Got none, and contacted the manager after a few days. After my call, they called me back after about 50 minutes to collect the new receipt.

Games normal process is that you go to them with your receipt and log a call. They then log it and a private technician is sent to your house for assessment. They assess and then contact Hisense with their assessment report. Hisense then decide if the tv must be collected by them for repair or if the store must apply for credit. This is what the Game Store manager told me today. This process is between 7 to 14 days according to them

Its priced at R50k

Not bad I would think for that size

Hi guys,

At Kloppers I see that the 55U6G is currently on special for R11k and they include a free soundbar (HS212F). Although they advertise as a 58", I think its misprint.

Do you think its a good deal, or should I rather consider something else?

Have never considered hisense although the ULED models look decent.

That’s decent. I see on the site there is a model coming soon. I wonder what the pricing on that would be. The Hisense 85 inch A7G tv is around 30k and supports Dolby atmos/vision. For the price it’s also not a bad big screen option.

I guess the takeaway here is that dealing directly with Hisense is a horrible thing. Chances are Game will bite the bite the bullet and take a loss on this return because Hisense might not approve the credit after Game already already sorted you out. Hopefully they will take ownership and do it though.

@Hisense SA
Our HE55A6100UWTS has lost the DSTV Now and Showmax apps - can't seem to find it on the app store either. Is there maybe a newer version of VIDAA that we can install / firmware update / firmware reset? Software version is currently VA002.01.00a.K0323
Thx a mil!
Hi,
Did you get any assistance with your query?

If you have a Hisense TV please share your experiences with them below. It's mostly hard to find reviews on their lower to midrange TV's
List your model as well.
Thnak you for this post. I am looking for firmware updates for my Hisense TV version HX32.V0000.E5300.FHT.01.01.K0618. Thank you
