[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

The TV and menus are perfectly responsive, as is VIDAA. I’m not yet sure what the Takealot reviewer meant where they suggested it was slow with “processing”. Unless they were referring to picture processing. I haven’t noticed anything amiss yet, but also have not had a chance to compare with known content, as the wife is watching Netflix (Firefly).

The TV menus/settings are exceptional, and seemingly a mixture of LG and Samsung’s. I’m extremely impressed here. They feel premium, and advanced, with plenty of fine-tuning on offer.

There seems to be a motion enhancement that I cannot find. The TV is currently set to Cinema (Night) and Theatre sound with Dolby Atmos. I’ve disabled as many of the motion-related settings I can find, but it still feels above 24 FPS, with too-smooth motion. The sound quality thus far is excellent, as well as the Dolby Atmos surround feeling, but I’ve not yet had a chance to test properly. I’m impressed that there is also an EQ.

@Lupus has seriously underrated this TV in his posts. It offers more than incredible bang for buck, and I cannot fault it. It feels just as good as my LGs. The picture quality and brightness are excellent. Colours are vivid and blacks inky. As an OLED TV, my expectations have been exceeded. I cannot see it being a problem in my very bright lounge during the day, especially with a few curtains closed.

@capd the A8H isn’t mine! Friend asked me to help him set his up due to how big and heavy it is. I am a little envious.

At first glance, the Hisense is just as good. It’s very bright. Once I’ve found how to remove all processing/enhancements in order to get 24 FPS movies/series, and tweaked the colours a bit, I’ll know for sure.

My pleasure. Look forward to spending more time with it, especially in the day. It kills my Samsung QLED which it’s replacing, so I’m happy about that.

Don't want to over sell it :-), also I've never had an OLED before so couldn't really tell. I do have the Hisense ULED U7QF which wasn't too bad either (despite some users opinions). Though the U7QF could experience blooming on occassion.
On the weekend I did watch the Underworld series on it, only blu ray sadly and it did switch to 24hz mode, I set the motion to film and had it set to film-makers mode and it actually looked really good, super smooth, no banding on blacks which did happen on LEDs in scenes. Overall it's a pretty good TV, gaming on it is odd though as Dolby V gives games more pop while 120FPS doesn't give that option sadly.

Nice one. So you haven’t found how to set Netflix, for example, to 24 FPS?

Is there a way to bring up TV settings in Netflix, for example, without having to go home/to VIDAA and into Settings there?

Have you tried applying no motion/enhancements to ‘All sources’? That may be the trick.

I have an Xbox One X at that TV. Xbox Series X on the LG C1 55”. Might have the PS5 on the Hisense so will test 120 FPS gaming soon too.

I don't use the apps on the TV, I have my Mi TV stick 4k plugged into hdmi 3. So never played with the Netflix on the TV :-( so no idea on setting it to 24hz for Netflix, didn't even know netflix had that option to be honest.

What I mean is basically removing all post processing and motion enhancements. On my LGs I know there is none of it because I can tell by there being no enhanced motion in, for example, Netflix, where everything is ‘slow and surreal’ (and correct, in my view).

When I was fiddling with the Hisense last night, I couldn’t seem to find how to do this. I got the picture a lot more cinema-ey/filmmaker-ey (without Filmmaker Mode which at first glance was a bit too yellow for me), but there’s definitely still some motion enhancement being applied as things are still too smooth and soap opera-ey – fast and too much like real life, losing the cinematic effect.

I suspect I may need to apply my settings to ‘All sources’.

Ooh okay, could try to into the hisense secret menu if it still exists, go to sound then to balance and type in 1969. A big green M should appear

May I ask which Samsung QLED it replaced ? I am thinking of replacing my Samsung 65” Q80T with this TV
 
Just a reminder to those who are getting consoles for Christmas to make sure your TV is in Enhanced HDMI mode so that you can run 4k and HDR together;)
 
I didn’t know @capd was a gamer. How is the A8H for gaming vs the LG?

@Lupus besides the HDR 120hz issue, you happy? Low enough latency etc. ?
