[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

I didn’t know @capd was a gamer. How is the A8H for gaming vs the LG?

@Lupus besides the HDR 120hz issue, you happy? Low enough latency etc. ?
Response time and latency are low by the feels of it, much better then my previous TVs over the years. Probably on par with my 144hz 32" LG monitor

Another issue being lumped under “processing” issues with the Hisense is how it handles shadow detail, it seems like it can’t do black/grey gradients smoothly and creates blocky artefacts in some scenes. I know LG initially had a similar issue with their algorithm but they’d just crush all the detail out with black instead of trying to manage it.

The A8H? I mean I can see that on the older uled I've got, don't see that blocky artifacts you'd see on lcds.

Not specifically the A8H, older Hisense OLEDs, I should have phrased that more as a question. Awesome if it’s fixed.

Besides the 8G were there any other Hisense OLEDs?

Overseas models yes. But this is me watching YouTube videos when I have insomnia so I could have mixed things up, I’ll go double check.

Ah didn't know there were more, will do some checking as well. I didn't notice any banding or dithering when watching underworld on the weekend, will take a look further.

I doubt that's enforceable. I would fight tooth & nail for expecting me to keep a massive 65" box. Also, those are general terms which wouldn't necessarily apply to TVs. Regardless, it should not be a requirement at all, for any product, and any objective party would agree.
Agreed. I kept my 85 inch box for almost a year but eventually threw it out because the space required to keep it is insane. I was prioritising space for the box over other things and then realised it was stupid. If Hisense wants me to keep the box they better pay for storage ;-)

The TV and menus are perfectly responsive, as is VIDAA. I’m not yet sure what the Takealot reviewer meant where they suggested it was slow with “processing”. Unless they were referring to picture processing. I haven’t noticed anything amiss yet, but also have not had a chance to compare with known content, as the wife is watching Netflix (Firefly).

The TV menus/settings are exceptional, and seemingly a mixture of LG and Samsung’s. I’m extremely impressed here. They feel premium, and advanced, with plenty of fine-tuning on offer.

There seems to be a motion enhancement that I cannot find. The TV is currently set to Cinema (Night) and Theatre sound with Dolby Atmos. I’ve disabled as many of the motion-related settings I can find, but it still feels above 24 FPS, with too-smooth motion. The sound quality thus far is excellent, as well as the Dolby Atmos surround feeling, but I’ve not yet had a chance to test properly. I’m impressed that there is also an EQ.

@Lupus has seriously underrated this TV in his posts. It offers more than incredible bang for buck, and I cannot fault it. It feels just as good as my LGs. The picture quality and brightness are excellent. Colours are vivid and blacks inky. As an OLED TV, my expectations have been exceeded. I cannot see it being a problem in my very bright lounge during the day, especially with a few curtains closed.
@Lupus definitely did undersell it @capd. Took it out of the box yesterday just to check as I couldn't wait for the new entertainment area to be done and bloody hell my wife said I haven't smiled like that in months.

Haven't even started to play with all the setting to get the picture the way I like it but the 4K Dolby demos are breathtaking. Will try and disable all the extras and set the backlight/contracts/etc. when its on the wall hopefully this weekend.

Anybody checked if Hisense covers burn in yet?

Also @capd, you do the Apple TV calibration with the camera already?

My 48” C2 feels so small after seeing the 65” Hisense. :crying:

Not yet I’m afraid. In the next few days, hopefully!

I'm sure there will be some niggles yes but like you said, the blacks are something else.

So Takealot has both the 65" A8H and U8H for the same price right now, which to get?
Both units have the same features (HDR10+ 120hz etc) it would be fair to say they are almost identical except for the actual panel inside.
so I guess it's between brightness of the mini-LED or deep blacks and colour accuracy of the OLED.
U8H gets rave reviews but there is no info out there on the A8H.

Paralyzed to make a decision between the two..

The u8h US isn't the same as ours so the US reviews may be deceiving.
