Personal information to be protected

Yeah right... According to the ECTA anyone contacting me must provide me with the "identifying particulars of the source from which that person obtained the consumer's personal information". Whenever I insist on that I get told "from the database"... How will this Act change anything?

awwww, shucks!!!

**** purges all information collected on MyBB members **** :(

I'm still trying to figure out who is responsible for company-specific email addresses ([email protected]) of mine leaking out to spammers.

In one case, I suspect that someone at my medical aid had a copy of the member database on their PC, and got infected by some trojan that trawled their disk for email addresses. In another, I suspect that someone in SAA flogged a bunch of addresses from their FlySAA email database.

bring in jail time....for the directors, cos they gotta know whats going on.. and if they dont .. well jail time for not know whats going on in their own company....

Yes, SAA has flogged addresses, Media24/Weg magazine has flogged addresses, Computicket has flogged addresses. Matrix Marketing has a connection inside Media24/Weg.

I really like this and look forward to the benefits of this piece of legislation.

I take no joy in the man/organisation who prostitutes my details to the highest bidder. I detest this practice and agree with the above mentioned ideas of harsher punishment metered out.

One thing it has taught me is to read word for word every document is sign. Terms and conditions often contain clauses which give permission to pass on details. I caught MFC doing this when I bought my car. As soon as I realised who was behind it I forced them to stop.

Ah FFS, lets not get carried away, this crap will continue.

MyBB really needs to look at their news reporting as they are essentially no better than spammers at the moment.
