Petrol?

Thankfully someone warned me about the crisis beforehand. Still managed to get some of the last fuel available.

I asked the guy at the station and he said "Tomorrow there will be big trouble". (East Pta)

I stopped at the filling station at Menlyn Motor City. What a hectic mess.
I enjoyed the preferential treatment though. I pulled up at the LRP pump, put R100 in and drove off while there were a good 30 vehicles (mainly 4x4s) waiting for diesel. One of the joys of driving an older vehicle that doesn't need to use unleaded or diesel.

What annoys me the most is that so many people have a "quick! let's fill up" mentality. It's selfish and besides if you can't find fuel and didn't fill up you at least have a good excuse for not going to work. :p

If the strike isn't sorted out soon and fuel becomes really scarce it's going to knock the economy really hard.
Then Mr Mboweni can do us all a favour and push the repo rate up a couple of hundred points.

Ok, there's something i find strange...

They say it's going to be like this for two weeks. I never knew that a strike was planned for a specific amount of time. Am i missing something here ?

It's like someone is deliberately behind this...

Seems they're still getting deliveries around here - they're just running days behind schedule.

Most stations here are already saying they're dry. Htf do we get to work from next week?

Did the sabc report that its gonna be 2 weeks?! Missed it then. In any case, I find the last month or three very strange, something just feels "off", don't know what or why, but I'm getting quite uncomfortable to be honest!

This is so annoying, I hate it when people panic buy! I actually needed petrol today (my tank is basically empty) and I usually throw in petrol once a month, I didn't even know of the strike, here I pitch up at the fuel station (x3) and they have no petrol ARRGG! (Everyone is selfishly throwing in as much petrol as their vehicles can possible take)

It's like when they said there would a shortage of carbonated soft drinks, one idiot told he bought 200 2L cokes!, I never even noticed a shortage...

I would almost put my life on it that fuel companies will not let this effect the flow of fuel, at least not for weeks on end, weeks without profit looks horrible on any companies books never mind how big.

*sigh*

Well it's really ticking me off too! I know of a few mother#$%&@$ who in the past couple of days who have been stopping to fill up every day after work "just to keep their tanks filled in case of an emergency". My car's tank is now between half and quarter, the stations are dry, and lots of people will be stranded come next week.

If the fscking retards just stuck to their normal filling routines, there might have been a bit of a shortage due to late deliveries of fuel, but there certainly would have been far fewer stations running dry. But nooo, people hear the word "shortage" and immediately think crisis. They don't realise that they're the ones stuffing it up.

What's even more annoying is that people are not only filling up, but have containers handy to fill up with petrol.

I managed to get some fuel at 11:30pm tonight (actually went to get milk and thought what the heck) :D just to make sure I can get to work and back next week without any stress and carry through the weekend. I overheard talk that they had just under 2000 litres of Unleaded left where I was at, but man was the service sloooow!!! They didn't fill my tank up though, for some reason it stopped at R183.00 bucks, so at least I have close to full. I usually put in R200 anyway.

Even at that time there were plenty of cars lining up.

I woke up at six and went to put in R190, all the other stations in my garsfontein area are empty, except this one where i drove past last night and saw a tanker and a way too long line of cars, when i was there now there wasnt a line... YET!

OK, so now that the whole family is tanked up, its the Caltex station in Delfi street that has unleaded petrol and lotsa diesel. Thats the street between Hans Strijdom (where the tile africa is) and Garsfontein Road (where moreleta plaza and the dros is)...

well, lucky enuf we can just sit at home today...dont really need to go out. And if we do, we are just +-800m from a shopping mall.

What do people do in a panic, they try protect themselves. Not necessarily being selfish.

If there is a fuel problem, petrol stations should manage the problem, limit the amount of fuel per customer, disallow the filling up of cans ... etc to better regulate the flow of fuel to normal levels.

Dont get me wrong, my car currently sits at a gearbox repair shop ... I cannot collect it because it doesn't have enough petrol to get back to my house.

I had to rent a car today at R1,350!!!!!! to go to meetings just because the rent car came with a full tank.

Well... I made it to Louis Trichardt... lets hope I can make it back to Johannesburg on Sunday. If I run out of petrol I'm screwed cause MTN just suspended my line. Nice of them considering I've only been a subscriber for 36 hours. All hell is going to break loose on Monday.
