Phil Spencer retiring from Microsoft

Asha has started to make her voice heard on X. It is either sincere, or a PR campaign. I am more than willing to give her a chance. I just don't want games locked up in ecosystems, that is all.

I strongly suspect within three years Microsoft will sell or spin off:

・Activision-Blizzard
・Bethesda/Zenimax
・King

I believe they will keep Minecraft.

I cannot imagine the predictions MS made for games in 2018 when they started their current strategy of growth through studios match with their needs for an AI future.

I mentioned this in one of my threads last year, but every dollar that Microsoft had invested in games would have been better invested into AI.

Potential buyers would be some of the MENA funds, PE firms, Netflix or others.

I hope it's just Navok's funny bone coming through. He is correct about the AI part, Microsoft themselves alluded to that. However, these major acquisitions occurred before the rise of frontier AI. Selling off those big companies will see a lot of those IPs being banished to hell.

Yeah. Only a pumpkin should not be able to see the forces colliding on social media. It is just bit more of a bloody mess on X. Microsoft have an campaign going, and it is seeping. In doing so they are handing out ammunition themselves to those who are their adversaries. It is a bad show for all on display.

Microsoft should be honest. They are going to make cuts, and they will make the Xbox Gaming platform, and its ecosystem, agentic. For better or worse.

I doubt Microsoft will do property selloffs, at least not that of IP. IP is important for balance and tax reasons. Some of their studios might, and possibly will be, on the chopping block.

We might also go into an era of Xbox making their own content exclusive to Game Pass, possibility also cutting off third parties. This would effectively kill any form of new game preservation from Microsoft's side.

This is the future I am seeing for Microsoft Gaming. I doubt that their games will become AI slop, but monetization, and game/platform development will increasingly become AI powered.

Something is not right here. I think there are reasons why Bond didn't get the promotion. Why? The community will possibly never know. I only wish that MS would stop engaging, mainly using AI, and using shills as cohorts to guide them into their new dawn. Restructuring is on the menu.
 
From early marketing, and brand positioning, it seems that MS Gaming is taking "experiences" back to the Xbox, the console. I am curious now. Will PC be sidelined, take a backrow seat? I mean, will games that arrived on PC, day 1, now arrive sometime in the months to come? It also doesn't seem that MS Gaming is done with acquisitions, and emphasis is being placed on AI.

Way too much noise to have any certainty. Though it can be read that Xbox wants to go toe-to-toe with PlayStation. The alledged rumour that Sony won't be bringing any new games to PC is seemingly also untrue, so I guess there is that, that MS will continue to keep gaming on PC alive and well.

No way will MS stop selling games on PS. They making a ton of money of them and no Satiya will never approve it. ~

Xbox as a console is dead. Xbox as a brand still lives

This. They threw money at Spencer believing GamaPass would destroy Sony and herd more sheep into their pen.

They were wrong.
