Philips Airfryer - anyone have?

Look everyone can buy whatever fill their needs.
I am just saying for the average Joe you don't want to limit your options. And a too small air fryer will limit your options.
As for two air fryers. If that's your need, so be it. But the average Joe would probably not want two hideous plastic eggs standing on his kitchen counter. One is bad enough.

I have a big kitchen with lots of counter and cupboard space. Storage isn't really a problem.
 
Bwana does have a good point about the wattage, I'm assuming whether an airfryer is full or not it's pretty much going to use the same amount of power so unless it's always full a larger unit equals relatively more expensive to run?

What are peoples thoughts on this, Midea 8L Air Fryer for R1650?

I know its apostasy to buy anything other than a Philips airfryer but the value proposition there is amazing and the reviews are 5-star near across the board, many interestingly rate it higher than the philips.
It appeals to me because it clearly is a excellent unit and I'm not paying for all the useless to me bells 'n whistles of more expensive models. I just want temp and timer control, I do not want app and wifi bs that is just another thing that can break and brick the device.

Well the topic of the thread is the Philips airfryer... The digital Philips is less than R1k more and you don't have to muck about with dials that might break. Just save up and get the Philips and get it over with.

Well nobody can help you if nobody have used it or even seen one.
I like the dials. will probably last longer than these digital touchscreen thingys.
Problem with these unknown brands on Takealot is you cannot go somewhere and see what it looks like. I have seen some that advertise 8L but its actually the size of the whole thing and basket is only 4L. Also some that does not have a basket with drip tray.
I took a chance on the Goldair because it was cheap and big. There was no reviews or anything, but at least I could go to P&P and look at one to see size and quality.

Midea is a legit brand, it’s been in South Africa for a long time. I was looking at their air fryers and induction plates and both have 100s of very positive reviews on TK, at the very least they work well and are reliable. The Midea I linked to is definitely 8L, I’ve noticed in the reviews of the ultra cheap no name Chinese air fryers sold as being XL 8L the reviews soon call them out on it.
I also see knobs and minimum electronics being a better choice, that’s all you need why complicate things.

Good point though about looking at one, that’s why I have been holding out from ordering, I don’t really want something that works well but looks super janky.

Another thing, unless you have some huge urgent need for an air fryer, why would you buy one now? Black Friday is in a few weeks and you would probably get a nice special somewhere, or at least see if there are any good deals.
