So how did we get these numbers? The easiest way to figure out how much an air fryer might save you versus a big oven was to calculate the wattage pulled per hour versus how much an electric stove would use. The same goes for a gas oven, although for that you need to figure out the amount of natural gas used for a stove as well as the cost of natural gas in your state.
If I remember correctly, it was something like 40 seconds heating 60 seconds just the fan. Have a video somewhere in the thread. Not a particularly good way to work out how much power either the air fryer or an electric oven uses. Both will cycle continuously, probably spending more time off than on once they reach temp. The only realistic way is to measure the power used for each from start to finish with something like a kill-o-watt.
Check this gal, bringing in demographics into the Airfryer cult..That is only because it is white, White is not as desirable when it comes to airfryers.

Not to disagree with you but a kill-a-watt is going to be challenging for your normal oven, they normally don't plug into ordinary 16A plugs. Not impossible to get the right equipment, but challenging for most home chefs. Not a particularly good way to work out how much power either the air fryer or an electric oven uses. Keep it out of the kitchen though, imagine my chips and nuggets begin to bicker over the airfryers identity, no thanksRacism isn’t new on MYBB.
All I'm saying is that their method of calculating the amount of power the devices used was woefully inadequate/inaccurate.Not to disagree with you but a kill-a-watt is going to be challenging for your normal oven, they normally don't plug into ordinary 16A plugs. Noted.Keep it out of the kitchen though, imagine my chips and nuggets behind to bicker over the airfryers identity, no thanks
It definitely wasn't conventional. All I'm saying is that their method of calculating the amount of power the devices used was woefully inadequate.
A small whole chicken. Larger ones you have to beat it into submission before it will let you slide the tray in.The stuff you usually make in your oven can be made in an airfryer.. Quicker, uses a tenth of the power that an oven uses and yes you can fit a whole chicken. Nothing makes chicken as good as an airfryer actually, No pan, no braai and no oven can make chicken as good as an airfryer.
Agreed, a proper oven roasted chicken with potatoes and vegetables I don't think could be properly achieved in an airfryer in the same wayA small whole chicken. Larger ones you have to beat it into submission before it will let you slide the tray in.
Collecting the juices to make gravy is difficult unless you use a silicone tray.
I have to use two to get the job done.Agreed, a proper oven roasted chicken with potatoes and vegetables I don't think could be properly achieved in an airfryer in the same way
