Phoning on the Huawei B315?

Thought I read that they state true per second billing?

Pure per second billing. The rates stated on the website is not very accurate. In fact it estimates more than what they charge.

2 calls below. Check the seconds spent on the call. Top one is a normal telkom landline and second one is a mtn number ported to cellc.

By using the above link I get 2 minutes as a reward for refering someone and that person gets rewards by just loading credit. So you can use the direct link www.greydot.me if you wish but no reward unless you refer someone too. :)

They have a list of DID numbers that you can choose from too if you do not wish to spoof your number.

I set it up to have my own did number so that my mum can call me on it too. Greydot to Greydot is free and the rest is very very well priced. In fact the lowest I have seen so far with no monthly fee and prepaid option with a free DID number.

The call back option from then is good but not always. It charges you 29c for the call back per minute and 29c per minute for the call that is how they get the 59c a minute rate but when the system calls you back it starts charging from the second you answer so if the other person does not answer you are getting charged for the call back...

The VOIP part of it works the best because you only get charged for the calls made which works out super cheap. :D

Ohh and it is definitely worth using one of their numbers for incoming calls as you earn free talk time too.

I can't understand how it can be this cheap though but loving it.

From your log the call to Telkom is charged 19c/min and to Cell C 29c/min, per second billing. When they discover they are losing money on ported numbers to Cell C, they will have to close business. I think they must give us clarification on the prices. Otherwise you might be also surprised when they fix it. :(

Anyway, going to use your referal link for your effort.

I guess but whats the worst thing that can happen? It gets fixed or they close down but you would have save a lot in the mean time. :)
 
HI all,

I run a small KZN division of Clear Group and think i have this figured out with the B315 SiP gateway but i will confirm when i complete the setup (Techies can check it out as well)

I created my own SIP account and entered the details into the router with no success beyond the "registering" process. However, learned from the previous posts that a "Cloud extension" needs to be created which runs the VoIP though Asterisk. Ive requested a cloud extension with geographic number from Clear Group and should be able to test this theory soon. In the meantime, can anyone confirm this?

Just a little reminder on VoIP, the carriers now play their role with connectivity so its up to the VoIP providers to now provide the equivalent service with clarity and redundancy. We run our services off Terraco and have strict protocol with the number or users to avoid overloading the trunks. So in a way, not all VoIP providers are created equal i guess :-)

I have Huawei 315s LTE CPE, however I don't have a VOIP tab in my settings

I tried updating it says its the latest firmware

Anyone had this problem? Thanks

1. Exact model number and firmware version?
2. You can't trust online checking. New firmware can be available, just need to search little bit more.

I got router with Cell C fiber to home, Cell C does not support VOIP and I am led to believe the loaded firmware is disabled VOIP due to this.

On this site they do explain how to confirure B315s-22 for VoIP, so if you debrand with Polsat firmware, you will definitely get VoIP: http://www.elektroda.pl/rtvforum/topic3113884.html

Added: The same firmware is for -22 and -936, so when debranding you can use firmware ending with 1232 (Huawei South Africa) or 372 (Telkom). These version have VoIP options.

Secondary Server is for failover.
For example Mweb have 3 Sip clusters, so you can choose two to use and make sure if one fails it will register on another.

Hi. It is possbile to use a sim card with analog telephones but the setup progress isn't straght foward. Settings>Voip>Sip Server
Proxy server address: 192.168.8.1
Registration server address: 192.168.8.1

Click Apply and that's it.

The phone will now have a dial tone like you have a telkom landline service.
If you split the line, you can have more than one telephone on the line.
