I want to refurbish my school's badge. The version we have looks has fuzzy edges and becomes quite pixelated when made larger.

What I want to do is to take our ncurrent one and basically lift/redraw the lines of the shield, and banners and the detail on it to a new layer and then to fill in the colours.

Can anyone help or at least direct me to a suitable tutorial?

Can photoshop do vector pictures?

Register for a free trial for the online vector magic site and convert what you have to a vector image and then work on it from there. As a vector image you'll be able to scale it problem free.

i've never had a successful experience with raster to vector via software.
that said, i'm anal about detail.
photoshop does vectors fine (shape layers/vector masks), but not so good with layout and spot colors.
rather use illustrator for this.
to be honest, this kind of thing can take a hell of a lot of time to do properly.
you may want to see if there isn't a place online that can just do it for you cheap cheap.
