I was under the impression they mark down their left-over pies and sell these the following day.

As this was not always a problem for me, I used to drop in at the PnP close to my work, and get two pies for R12.99.

This morning I decided to get a pie as I haven't packed lunch for the day, stopped at the PnP, and collected my two pies.

Drove to the office, and only then noticed the "sell by date" has been blackened out with a marker pen.

However, you can still see the sell by date underneath - which shows the 13th of this month.

I'm going to take this back to the store in question and ask for my money back, and get something else instead. Don't want to take a chance.

I also have complained on the PnP website, will see how far that go.

Lesson learnt - check for the sell by date before snaffling a pair.

Are you sure you wanna take those pies back...?

Take it back, can't chance it with chicken hey.

Noticing lots of things to take back these days. No more quality control or something. I got meaty peanut butter on Saturday ...... dead worms, webs and all :erm:

What the hell is this?! Fear factor :wtf:

Shows you how different various pnp stores are run....

ours bags their breads, rolls and other such baked goods. Gets marked down in the morning, then placed on a table near the door.
the hot food (night before), was portioned and fridged, then marked down in the morning.

pies - they bake them every day. There are never pies left after 6pm (close at 8pm). And if there were any left they too would get marked down to half price.

This food is often gone within an hour of them opening at 8am again

Or it could be that they printed too many labels and didn't want them to go to waste.

I never ever had a problem with this particular PnP - always used to get marked-down pies the next day. Never had any stomach upsets from those pies.

This is the first time it happened (sell-by-date blackened out).

The other PnP close to our house - if you're not early, you don't get any left-over pies. Most is usually sold out just before closing time.

I suggest you get drunk and eat them pies at around 2am, I promise they will taste delicious, probably the best pies you have ever slurped up..
