Ok, so I'm sick and tired of Autopage and took out a new contract with MTNSP. Anytime 500 @ R589.00 thats R2136.00 for the phone which I don't think is bad considering what you pay outright.

Will I be the first to have my hands on the X1?

I'm so jealous now. And I have to wait until Monday. Then I still have to hope they have stock.

You must let us know as soon as you have it please.

Will do, that's if MTNSP get their asses in gear, but hopefully in the morning.

I must say, I can't wait for GSMARENA to do a review on the Xperia. I've seen so many nice reviews that is excellent that I'm sure this the phone to have.

I've read many reviews and it seams the early "prototype" models had some issues but looks like that's all sorted out. Sure there will still be some issues but you always gonna get that. There aren't many phones out there that can compete with the X1 right now, if a qwerty keyboard is important to you that is, and on a phone like this it is. It's almost a small laptop. Anyway I'll let you know once I have it. I'm a SE fan and this will be my first WM phone and hope that doesn't put me off, but there are so many apps out there to customise this phone already I don't think it will be an problem.

Yes, that's what I found too. The good thing about Windows Mobile is that you can install different ROMS that people develop themselves. So you dont have to install the firmware SE gives you. Like with Nokia you can only install their firmware. You can cook the ROM if you want on a Nokia too but that is not that easy.

With WM you just intall the new ROM and there you go.

Keep this link in mind.

The first thing I'm going to do when I get my Xperia is to install the TouchFlo3D panel. Then you have a singel panel that you can click on and have the HTC Touch PRO's user interface on your Xperia.

So basically you have best of both worlds.

Congrats Steven! If money was not an issue the Xperia would definately be my number one choice. Brilliant phone. Will be waiting for your review:)

Indeed congrats :D

I was out harassing outlets in Paarl today - meant to go out to Tygervalley and the rest of northern suburbs but lost track of time and had to head straight home :o

Yeah Steve let us know when you have that sucker! :D :p

Word has it MTNsp in Canal Walk has them. Thats what my source tells me anyway. Give them a try shake and bake.

and too think that next year this time, the X1 will be old and this thread will be used in another new thread argument about which phone is the best :)

Just got confirmation this morning from the MTN store in Rondebosch that they are getting a few X1's some time in the next few days. Lets hope its not another bull$h1t story. My name is down but only if they give it to me on the Anytime200 with a pay in.

Well I've been around to 4 MTN Stores today and put my name down for backorders.
Some are talking about December, others January.

One staffer could only give me an estimate of a pay in of R2900 on an Anytime200.
I think that's a bit steep.

I even went into the hated Nashua Mobile for info - they're just as lame.

What I don't get is that there is no concrete information on getting it on cheaper packages.

Anyway - more hunting and waiting to be done.

VC's prices are insane and not even worth looking at!

It has been confirmed that the Xperia will only be available on Anytime350 and upwards.

e-mail I recieved from MTNSP.

They do not have a offer on the MTN 200 for the X1

Thank you
