Piracy battle over DVD software

Digital Rights Management (DRM) is a total farce. It only restricts the people who legally procure the software anyway. People who pirate can't be stopped by DRM. I really feel nothing for the MPAA and their sycophants, as much as I believe that piracy is wrong.

We are legally allowed to create backup copies of our DVD's, but we must do so without breaking the copywrite protection? How exactly are we supposed to do that? Im inclined to say they are actually breaking the law by making it difficult for me to legally create backups.

DVD Decrypter and Image Burn works just fine.

The movie industry need not worry about me, as the "DVD's" I burn are not legitimate in the first place ;)

I know the US has laws like that (DMCA?) but does SA?

No they don't but I am sure they will get here eventually, and bribe a politician or two to pass laws to suit them.

As it is, we're already having our internet snooped and ISP's sending "cease and desists" to SA internet users

Unless South Africa's law has been changed you're only legally allowed to make backups of software. DVDs are arguably software, but probably wouldn't automatically be viewed as such.
