Piracy battle over DVD software

RealNetworks says RealDVD maintains original copyright protections on copied films and essentially "locks" duplicate DVDs to people's computers to prevent improper sharing.

Who the hell is even going to use this?

DVD Decrypter, and a thousand other ripping apps, have been out for donkey's years.

It's for ignorant ppl :p

Not us cool ppl in the know! ;)

DVD Decrypter and the DeCSS code should be voted the most important software of the last decade! :p Or at least in the top ten!

Talk about mountains out of molehills. I truly cannot understand what has the industry so upset by this application. If anyone should be upset, its consumers.

Why would anyone pay for a DVD ripping app that rips DVDs with stricter DRM than even the studios have managed to create?

SlySoft all the way for me...

If anything, this will bring publicity in for RealNetworks and increase sales.

Do the MPAA serioius think that people will rent the same DVD twice ? If I have seen it once it is in my mind and no matter how many times I think about it thay cannot charge me. If you paid to see it once you should be able to see it forever.

Yes, the MPAA in their infinite wisdom want you to Pay per View.... so they can enrich themselves even more.

I think the RIAA/MPAA and all related organisations are actually the anti-christ they refer to in the bible.

Rip off!

I have been copying DVDs for ages, when Thabo Mbeki was still cool...either that or the vinegar has just gone stale..

Well, let them fight about this piece of software as it distracts the observers from the really good software :)

Oldest marketing trick in the world, by Real.
Well, they have to do something - all of their products are cra...er...inferior.

<hand opening and closing the whole time>.... yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada.....
What about me being able to rip my own music cd's with for instance WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER....? Well? Same issue.

Are these guys on crack? Are they stupid? Or under what rock have they been hiding? Like most ppl on this forum, I wouldn't use their software to rip movies either. **twits**

why pay to rip when there are free ripping utilities.....

Ah.These big studio's never learn!Anything that's man made can be hacked, cracked and modified whether they like it or not.I think they must come over to South Africa and implement DRM on Crime.Yep.Protecting property than movies is more lucrative i say.
