Pirate fined

OK, yes... we get that he was a bad guy... one of the real worst kind of counterfeiters!...

but do they always have to throw this bullcrap in there as well???

"Illegal software doesn't only cost the large vendors dearly. Estimates by technology researcher IDC suggest that worldwide, the industry is losing more than $10 billion a year from pirated desktop software, said Everton.

"In South Africa, one in every three copies of our software is used illegally. Estimates suggest that reducing piracy by 10 percentage points over four years could generate an extra 1 200 jobs in the local IT sector, R6 billion in local industry revenue and R490 million in additional tax revenues."

Who cares? If you are ganna pirate for profit.. then expect to get into trouble. Guy was silly really... and I dont support piracy for profit.

I do support piracy for non-profit. Ie.. for me :P

Burn him at the stake!

Its one thing to pirate stuff for yourself (which is wrong), but to pirate and make a profit from it by selling to the unsuspecting public is even worse!

Haha I used to shop there. They sold really inferior quality products and moved my business elsewhere

Vikesh is a bloody skelm. I used him once or twice because he was cheap but I started to get suspicious and stopped using him.

Exactly

Thing is you become a criminal once you start selling your pirate items.

Also its a bit stupid to sell pirated software to unsuspecting customers and not expect to get caught.

I would be pissed if bought what i thought was a legal something or other and it turned out to be illegal.

So I guess http://www.cybermedia.co.za/ is like http://www.cybergames.co.za/?

Cybergames sells rather expensive pirated games:

For just R149.95 including nationwide postage within 48hrs. Buy 2 or more at R124.95 each. Buy 5 or more at R99.95 each. Buy 10 or more at R80.00 each "thats wholesale"

...from their website

I have seen their warez, they come in just a jewel case with relatively inferior quality manual insert.

They are pretty obviously pirated. I'm sure I started a thread asking about htem some time ago re. how have they stayed in business so long when they are so obviously selling counterfeit goods?

EDIT: Don't look now it's my 666th post!

Microcr@p are amazing - when I reported a local dealer for selling the hacked WindowsXP on their systems, MS where not interested in going against this guy...

He pre-installed this OS on his systems and MS where only interested if he was printing fake licences...

Yea.. I bought from them once.. and my sister bought her first PC from them (well the main components anyway).. it was the biggest heap of junk I've ever seen. :p
I mean, how many motherboards do you find that have a non-removable CPU? - It was permanently fixed?
Supposedly 1Ghz, but actually only clocked at 733Mhz, with a real performance less than your average 500Mhz.

Anyway.. I don't like Microsoft either so I don't feel sorry for them either. :p

Good thing he was caught. I don't support piracy. But I don't support M$ either. Screw M$.... install Linux!
