that was a generalization don't take it word for word, there is however a stereotype that breed animals like this. I know of a few that think its a clever hobby.

Rescue dogs should always be spayed. Makes me sick. Yes, they do. If you have an aggressive mom, siblings, and family they will be more aggressive. Sometimes one puppy out of a litter are diffrent. Maybe it is genes.

All animals should be spayed and neutered. Nobody needs more puppies and animals. For 7 homeless animals there is 1 human.

Maar f0##en teel. Worse is they produce human kids that are raised to be scum as well. :mad:

I disagree with ALL animals! While backyard breeding is a problem and normal dog owners should do the responsible thing and spay and neuter it is important to breed pure bred cat's and dog's to preserve the genetics.

I'm miffed was called to pickup a purebred animal yesterday, they wanted to drown it becuse they didn't want it anymore.
Society is a problem. There are breeders in countries with better regulations ( not the us and U.K.) that can keep the pure bred lines ( that humans created) alive.

The world doesn't need more puppies, kittens, bunnies.
The world needs people to stop breeding more humans as well.

Where did the dogs come from? What was the owner doing at the time? This doesn't sound like the owner let his dogs lose on the beach and got distracted looking at some pretty girl. With that amount of injuries it sounds more like the dogs somehow escaped from a nearby house.
Then every dog that bites someone is a pit bull just like every gun is a assault riffle totally ridiculous.
Now after copying and pasting 3 sentences the journalist gets side tracked and jumps to another dog attack to make the article appear fuller.
I don't know how these guys gets paid for such rubbish.

If you met my gorgeous, obedient sweetheart of a Rottweiler I hope you would change your mind he really is a awesome specimen and was bought from a responsible breeder who does it for love and not money.

We also have a kind hearted rescue who just wants love but has become accustomed to the good life she was abandoned with her puppies at a shelter so I can understand where you are coming from it's actually people that are the animals.

I know you do alot of good for animals and really respect you for that the world needs more people like you ;)

Really?

You go to the beach and you'll see most dogs off a leash. My dog is friendly & will never bite anybody, never mind crapping all over the place.

Each different breed has different characteristics and can be chosen for those qualities and it is hard to deny the beauty of some pure bred dogs and cats they are exquisite.

Example? So I can understand your thought process.

I think that is difficult to quantify and depends on your perspective. I have many friends with pure bred animals bought from reputable breeders who are not doing any harm and the owners have fallen in love with a specific breed. It's not right to throw everyone in the same basket because some people do horrible things. I would rather be focused on campaigning for better laws and the implementation of those laws than punishing and labeling good people who have chosen to include a specific breed of animal into their home and family.

Most of the pure breeds didn't start of that way. The inbreeding has done more damage then good.
 
Here are a few things for your "Defenders" to get right quickly.
Trying to say that, "Oh it was a Pit-bull type cross-breed not a pure Pit-bull" is complete bull****. The argument here is over the Breed, which boils down to its genetic traits. So Cross-breed will still contain plenty of genetic traits. Trying to defend pit-bulls by claiming that only PUREBREEDS are true bastions of what a pit-bull is, that is complete rubbish.

The things that make pit-bulls dangerous, the unpredictability, the bite pattern, the aggressiveness. Those are traits that are well know and documented. And if an attack happens, that is savage, or unprovoked, etc... And the dog is identified as having pit-bull genes, then unfortunately but also justifiably, the blame falls on the pit-bull heritage of that animal.

Final thought:
Selective breeding is a real thing that matters and makes a difference. Border-Collie are fantastic sheep herders because they have been bred to do this job. Nobody disputes that fact, nobody is going to enter a pit-bull into the national sheep herding contest and expect anything other than last place.
So why do people suddenly downplay the significance of selective breeding when it comes to aggressive traits? It is a dangerous narrative to put out there.

In all domestic animals and even wildlife, humans select to breed the best qualities in animals, sure it might have some unintended damage but mostly it just helps evolution along by fast tracking it.
The problem with some backyard breeders and/or normal people who just let their dog have puppies with anything even sometimes allowing inbreeding screw this up and then you get a dog with bad characteristics (aggressiveness....) or simply a defective animals not fit to be around people.

I know this happens, but the article is unclear about it. So now you have to fill in the blanks from personal experience.
If this is in fact how it happened the owner most probably also thought his dogs are friendly and will never bite anyone.

The best qualities for their purposes. Pit-bulls were bred to be fighting dogs, aggressive, savage, high pain threshold, devastating bite technique. That is what they were bred for. Sure, mixing that with something that has an even stronger predator instinct, or a much shorter fuse, can produce something even more dangerous than a Standard Pit-bull. BUT it is the Pit-Bull breed that has the major problem of being engineered into such a dangerous animal.

It is the Pit-Bull base that is the problem. Some unfavourable cross-breeding can be even worse, but only because it is being cross bred with a Put-Bull. It is not the cross-breeding that is the flaw. As there are many cross-breeds that come out with absolutely lovely temperaments, because the two base breeds are bred as companion dogs to begin with.
 
Oh damn..

I suppose I should just lock myself in my room at my house... I have 3 bull terriers and a pitbull in my house atm, I must be a dead man.
