Bull Terriers can look damn scary if you don't know the breed..

mmmm, I have a staffie - useless watchdog, would probably welcome a burglar hoping they get a bit of play time. However, if someone threatened me, would be a totally different story, that said someone who threatens u I can understand, but a baby?

You would be surprised.... the Staffie knows who is supposed to be in his territory and who isn't.. also if someone threatens you then god help them the staffie will go ballistic. My Bull Terrier once chased some bugger a good few km's when he made a threatening move at my dad the one day...

Bull terriers are awesome with kids. I grew up around them and they're some of the most awesome dogs you get - super loving and very good watchdogs.

Fully agree with this one, its why I have a Bull Terrier atm, and why I will always have them in my life... I love them to bits.

I would be happy with an outright ban on pit bulls, but also think that there needs to be tougher legislation controlling ownership of other vicious breeds.

I do concede however that a major reason for issues with these dogs are their owners.

Seems that according to this article that pit bulls are in the majority when it comes to fatal human attacks - in the states at least.

That's the major problem - they're not Pits, and there's no quality control in them.
Your proper Pit is among the most human friendly dogs in the world.

a well bred Pitbull is a great dog just like all Bull Terriers. They're great with kids. In fact they're one of the best breeds to get with kids despite the bad image they have in the media. Granted they're often aggressive towards other animals like cats and things but towards humans they're very seldom aggressive. To paint an entire breed with one brush because of the actions of a few mongrels is just silly.
