Platinum Strike Ends

At least you recognise communism is compassionate. Well Done Seriously, there is hope for you after all

Communism as a theory is BRILIANT!

However history has proven over and over again that is just does not work. In any country in Africa IT WILL NEVER WORK!!! The power trip of these African leaders... They are worse than Kim of N.Korea ;)

What a joker. Communists are self centered lazy fctards wanting everything for free while a few corrupt leaders "keeps" the failed "economy" going by forcing a few people to work.
Remember Russia, Cuba? I guess not!

It's a vicious circle...
Maybe are workers are not very efficient because they are not paid decently, rather than the other way around?
Don't be a dumbass. You don't go pay a junior software developer R30k per month in hopes of him living up to expectations. You wait for him to prove himself and add value to the company and then you reimburse him appropriately. And I say junior software developer, because they often start out at less than what these miners are pulling.

You mean the Democratic People's Republic of Korea...

Since there has never been a country that was communist, history actually isn't much to go on.
Just calling yourself communist doesn't actually make you communist, anymore than the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is a democracy

There is no more hope, it over the threshold of ......... not much can be done anymore. Shame!

And if you knew you would never get a raise and after 14 years as a software developer you have never gotten a raise, despite living up to expectations, do you think you would still be so enthusiastic and efficient? If the miners were being reimbursed appropriately we wouldn't have the problems we are now facing.

Because it's a theory. You will always have 1 group at the top dictating. It's a 1 party state. True communism will never happen, NEVER NEVER NEVER. Humans have evolved past communism. And it's like asking a human to step back into the ice age :D

Actually humans are evolving into communism, it's our future, not our past.
Read some Marx...

In the view of classical Marxism, the struggles of the working class against the attacks of the capitalist class lead the working class to establish its own collective control over production - the basis of socialist society. Marx believed that capitalism always leads to monopolies and leads the people to poverty; yet the fewer the restrictions on the free market, (e.g. from the state and trade unions) the sooner it finds itself in crisis.
...
Socialism
After the working class gains class consciousness and mounts a revolution against the capitalists, socialism, which may be considered the Fifth Stage, will be attained, if the workers are successful.
...
Some time after socialism is established society leaps forward, and everyone has plenty of personal possessions, but no one can exploit another person for private gain through the ownership of vast monopolies, and so forth. Classes are thus abolished, and class society ended. Communism will have spread across the world and be worldwide. Eventually the state will "wither away" and become obsolete, as people administer their own lives without the need for governments or laws. Thus, stateless communism or pure communism, which may be considered the Sixth Stage, is established,

I disagree completely.

It has tried and failed.Communism is completely dead. Good luck trying to revive that dead horse. The world has seen how it failed, they will not allow it to fester again. You can't have one small group at the top living it up and the rest just "being". The dream of it yes, I like it. Wake up one day and all is equal all have their place and everything is nice and full of flowers.

The reality is it will never happen.

Mechanisation is harder because of the increased depths.

Easy to blame the unions, but SA platinum mining is simply not worth it. Not enough skills to mine that deep safely and productively.

This is why in 2008 Anglo started a process of rethinking about long term sustainability of underground platinum mining.

Then I would've done something about it and changed careers instead of bitching and making demands. Nobody held a gun against my head. I know plenty of people that studied for something, ended up with zero job prospects and went in a completely different direction with their lives, starting companies, working in a different field... Some were successful and some weren't. None of them ever went up to their bosses and striked and demanded while sitting on their asses and doing nothing to better themselves.

Do you own one of the mines? I noticed you said "Our workers are not efficient" so I assume you own one of the mines as your language identifies ownership or at least a shared feeling of ownership

Did you even bother to read the link I supplied?

"Our" South African I would assume...

Thank you. If I said mine workers I would have generalized.
But I guess I'm not allowed to feel ownership of my country.

Fsck that, I wan't no part of it. If you believe that is the future and it will work then you're an idiot. It's your type that causes schite & suffering in the world.

Since learning that these mineworkers burned sheep alive, I have zero sympathy for them.
