Platonic Relationships

See Pookster there are 4 levels of relationships between men and women:

1) Mental attraction but not sexual attraction = Friends
2) Physical attraction but no mental attraction = ****buddies, or to be PC, Friends with benefits.
3) Mental and Physical attraction = Relationship.
4) Neither mental nor physical attraction = GTFO of my life.

NB. The attraction needs to be mutual for both parties.
NBB. Ofcourse there are situations where you are so mentally attracted to the person that they start to become physically attractive yo you.

I think this is too simple.

Surely it;s on the same continuum>

If I am following your logic then... Aren't you sort of saying 'is it possible to have friends at all, considering that on some level (continuum), you might be sexually attracted to them'?

Is it possible to have a completely platonic relationship between a (straight) male and (straight) female?

That's it.

Its better to have a fsck buddy. You won't have any regrets. Platonic on the other hand? You'll always be thinking about it in anycase.

Well... You make a valid point but maybe if you are straight and are friends with a guy then there is a different continuum... But now I'm just confusing myself.

Well that's what I'm thinking, but as to the regret part that you can;t be sure of.

Depends, post pics and we'll tell you.

If she looks like Roseanne Barr then yeah you could be only friends.
If she looks like Megan Fox then no way Jose!

Very interesting article about platonic relationships in Psychology Today

If men are from Mars and women are from Venus, it may explain at least one of their shared beliefs: Men and women can't be real friends. Blame the sexual tension that almost inevitably exists between any red-blooded, heterosexual man and woman. Point to the jealousy that plagues many rational people when a significant other befriends someone of the opposite sex. Boil it down to the inherent differences between the sexes. It just can't be done. Right?

I'm with abzo. If she's fugly, yes, if she's a looker, no.

It's possible but unlikely.

I hate agreeing with you but, this.

Unless both parties are hounds.

Relationship attraction (or love) is just friendship + sexual attraction. Once you have the friendship, at least one person (unless they are both hounds) is very likely to have the sexual attraction. Usually the dude because we find any female not completely repulsive, sexually attractive. Ugly girls tend to be like guys in this respect.
