As the title states, Is there any of you guys that ,same like me, with a tight budget that opted to go for PowerColor GPU's?

I'm asking cos my initial budget is R3k max passed, signed and cleared by "the minister of finance";) for a gpu but i'm very tempted to nag my wife for just a little more cos I saw this PowerColor AXR9 280X 3GBD5-T2DHE/OC TurboDuo at Wootware and the price for the performance is just awesome!

I game on a 40" Sony Bravia full hd lcd and very happy with 1080p gaming so just thought this would be great to max out all games at 1080p

Before this gpu showed up i was going with a Gigabyte R9 270X... but that price is just VERY tempting!

The rig in my sig

Thanks in advance guys!

Why do you need convincing? Get it, don't get it...

Just sorta wana know from the experienced PowerColor owners if they had any issues with their gpu's cos reviews and forum users' tend to differ somewhat...

I'm a PowerColor owner. Had my experience with it. No issues with the GPU, except for motherboard compatibility (which is all sorted with the new GPUs).

PowerColor is a good brand, especially here in RSA where all the other brands cost a leg more, and even an extra toe if you are going with Asus..

Anyway, some advice from my side:
The PowerColor AXR9 280X 3GBD5-T2DHE/OC TurboDuo is a good card, at an exceptional price. Not a major overclock like the rest of the contenders, but the price is king. Another thought, PowerColor has released their new PCS cooling solution on the R9 270X cards and it is amazing (according to reviews)! It looks awesome and has good performance! The PCS series is usually the PowerColor 2nd Tier card (their Devil series is their Tier 1) and has a very nice OC (usually) out of the box with the better cooler than the TurboDuo. I'm currently waiting for the PCS series to rollout in the R9 290 and R9 280X before I buy.

That's just my 7.5cents

I've got the Powecolor 270x and very impressed particularly with the noise levels. I'm not sure if all 270x are so quiet but it's a big difference from the 7870le I had before.

Did you get the PCS one with the backplate?

How about I convince you to go Nvidia?
Hahaha if only we could in this country... The budget/performance talks...

Unless you know of any more budget friendly Nvidia GPUs in RSA which we don't know of?

Right now this looks to be the best deal overall in this country:
http://www.wootware.co.za/powercolo...it-pci-express-3-0-desktop-graphics-card.html
But I keep saying, it's not that Nvidia is ALWAYS worse on a P/P scale. It's just right now they are because AMD released their new architecture. I'm still sukkeling with my audio and I have to blame the AMD drivers for it since it conked out as soon as I installed the new card.

Your power consumption will have long since exceeded the value of the 780ti sc.

A few weeks ago it was going for R12 000 and it should take about ~1.5 months to mine 1.

300w continuously for a month?

Yea, i have this PC on all the time (load during the day and idle late at night) and there a small increase in the bill of like R100, do you know how to work out how much 300W would cost me PM?
