PLEASE HELP ME CHOOSE AN ISP :-) NEW HERE..

I've been told that our exchange is in Robertsham, which is more than 5KM away from me...does that mean no matter what ISP I have or even if my line changes to 4MB it will still be slow just because of the distance?
There's a strong possibility that Telkom won't be able to provide a stable 4MB line given the distance and your current problems. PM TelkomZA with your ADSL line no and see if there's anything that can be done to provide you with a better line.

+1 - Good advice.

Also, let us know what your line stats are...

I am with broadconnect 2mbs uncapped @ R249

My 3rd ISP in less than a year, mweb did not last a month then Afrihost for a while longer.

I'm with Afrihost at the moment and not really getting good results. But then again it could be because of the speed.

How is Broadconnect going for u?

HI EVERYONE :-)

I'm new to the forum so this is my first post so here goes:

I need a help with selecting an ISP. We are currently with Afrihost (1MB uncapped) and line with Telkom. Our internet is forever given us issues and is never stable and always so slow (CANT EVEN LOAD YOUTUBE PROPERLY). Right now I'm not sure what the problem is, I stay in Mondeor and I don't think the connection here is too good. I'm only looking at 4MB uncapped packages.

I've been searching around and was thinking of moving to MWEB (4MB uncapped + line for R449pm) and then paying Telkom just for our calls package (Anytime free landline calls). So all together it comes to R800.

If I choose the same 4MB uncapped with telkom it comes to R898 all inclusive with calls.

Looking around at other ISP's but MWEB seems to be the cheapest that I have found for uncapped 4MB adsl. I just want something that's relatively fast and reliable.

Should I just settle on MWEB? They say they will take two weeks to migrate the line from Telkom so will have to wait. I've read some reviews on this forum about MWEB and don't know what to believe coz many people are complaining that it is really slow and they moved over to someone else.

ANY SUGGESTIONS OR THOUGHTS WOULD BE APPRECIATED! HAVE TO MAKE A DECISION BEFORE THE NEW MONTH!

AND ALSO IF ANYONE HAS TELKOM UNCAPPPED 4MB PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW IT IS? MAYBE IS SHUD JUST UPGRADE AND STAY WITH THEM I DON'T KNOW :-(

THANK YOU FOR YOU HELP!

Of course YouTube won't work properly on 1meg. Doesnt matter which ISP. I say upgrade to Telkom 4meg first. Got plenty friends that are very happy on that package.

With Crystal Web for the 2nd (and last) month now. But the internet is horrible. Really it is. They blame my line. Yet other ISPs accounts work just fine. So am moving again. My next step will probably be a 1MB Axxess business uncapped account.
They blame your line as does every single person who you've ever shown your traceroutes. seriously man if it really is Crystal web BSing show a traceroute with CW and and show one with AH/WA because your pretty much the only one with this problem and if they really are lying it would be a huge favour to everyone if you post evidence. As right now you seem to just be talking ****.

The proof of the pudding is in your pings!

This issue looks more like your line/exchange. You should get Telkom to properly check out your line before changing ISPs.

Most ISPs offer a free trial period so rather check the line and then run the free trials to see what suits you.
