Hi all,

I currently have the MWEB 384KBs uncapped service. I required faster internet as my company will allows us to work from home once a week. A requirement is obviously fast reliable internet. I will need to login via the VPN. I also play games. Like Dota on the local war3 server and WoW on the EU servers.

The MWEB 4MBs uncapped comes to R899.00. And according to MWEB the fastest speed that my line will support is 4Mbs. So I was thinking that I would like to try out Axxess because the less you use the more priority you get, apparently. But will axxess have local peering to both Mweb and Telkom? That would be cool because I can't play some of the Dota games because it is usually hosted on Telkom lines at the moment and I lag out.

The most I ever downloaded in one month on my 384 was just under 50gb but that is rarely. I maybe average about 15gb pm.

What do you recommend?

TIA

axxess does peer with both, but they are IS reseller , in general IS uncapped performance is pretty bad.

Thanks hereticangel.

ajules - I have no idea what the vpn for 8 hours a week(x4) will use but I am expecting total usage(including my personal stuff) pm to be around 20gb.

If you have to do uncapped - never really an option (only if you exceed 100GB) - connectivity sucks - then go for TRL, best so far...

Then don't waste your time with uncapped.I was on uncapped for 6 months and it was a very frustrating experience. If you are not a heavy user stick to capped.
Rather go for a capped a/c like Afrihost. For R475 pm you get 50GB and it is unshaped.I am with them and I can testify that the product works like a dream.

isp that uses cybersmart backbone, think you need transfer line to them also etc, you all ready have everything with mweb, easy method is just stay with them and upgrade.

Hmmm, Afrihost capped sounds like a good option...

Does Afrihost also have a cheaper deal on line rental? I would prefer not to deal with Telkom at all.

And this is why uncapped can only get worse as long as capped is an option and people know about it.

No they don't.However it is never a good idea to transfer your line to an ISP.
Good luck with your choice.

Yes I would also agree if you only gonna use about 20GB go via Afrihost and get any gold package you need.. I'm currently on one of them and very happy with it, no shaping FTW!!!
