Hi Guys

I have 3 branches all on ADSl.How can I make it so that the person that calls my TElkom number 0860.... can be redirected to another branch via ADSL

What equipment do I need, what are the costs please

Hi Diddy,

The 086 number can be set to ring at any 1 number.
Wherever this number terminates I would set up a Linux server running asterisk.
Depending on your typ of lines you will need either an ISDN card or analogue card to connect to the phone line. The card will convert the call from "Voice" to data. Once it is in Data form you can send it to the other branches by means of a Voice prompt system, the voice prompt is a feature that comes with Asterisk.

Unfortunatly, like most things, the price depends on the scale of the implementation.

For a 4 line system you're looking at roughtly 40k to buy of 1,5k to rent. Small change if you compare it to other PABX's out there.

So - there's one "landing point" with 4 lines somewhere in the country.
This "landing point" is connected to an ADSL line.
The 40k solution can accept incoming calls on the 4 lines and then route the call through the ADSL line into the appropriate department LAN.

What do you do when the "call" gets to the depot ?
Do you have each computer running a VOIP software program ?
Do you have another converter patching back into the Depot's PABX ?
Combinations of these ... ?

That depends on the specific departments infrastructural needs. You could need a server at each dept or each IP phone from each dept could connect to one main server. There are a lot of variables at play.
 
Asterisk - Open Source PABX

Look no further than the Open Source PABX Asterisk - it has equivalent feature set that of the commercial vendors, and can be implemented cost effectively.

For four branches, it will easily be able to handle your needs. Visit the Asterisks site for info.
 
The problem is that not everyone can master ASTERISK, even used at home. esp dd's case. I don't think GG's solution will beyond the *, that's the reason we exist.

We also setup/maintainence * for small/home business, normally easy to integrate with VoIP.

Using conventional PBX, you still need to invest for VoIP, at least hardware gateway, and also implement fee will be involved

When do you think SA will get free local calls...

Other solutions besides Asterisk

Hi Diddy

I think the features on Astrisk are good but if you don't want to spend a whole lot of money upgrading your phone system than have a look at my solution.

I supply VoIP gateways that can run on ADSL, or Diginet. These gateways are very versatile, they can plug into your existing PBX, allowing you to go VoIP without changing your existing equipment. The gateways come with QOS which allows you to ensure that you keep your voice quality while others are surfing on the net.

The gateways range from R4K to R10K for a small to medium office environment. The gateways are programmed to do LCR (cellular, international and national) already, but if you would like to do branch-to-branch routing these need to be added to the routing table.
