Please help me understand iOs notifications

What is with the “iOs” nomenclature?

You are the only person I’ve seen type it like that (in all your threads).

It’s that damn mobile Shift button that will only toggle for one upper case so I just leave it at that.
Is plain ios better?

Double tap the shift button to lock caps.

Double tap the shift button to lock caps.

But then you have to unlock it again, elegant efficiency of movement trumped aesthetics in this instance but maybe I need to revisit this choice.

But if you typed it on a real Apple device it does it all for you.

iOS.

Have you even considered the possibility that after all is said and done that in the end you might just in fact really be holding it wrong?
It's always great when comedians update their routines, you know, to keep things fresh and current, so I for one applaud you for finally working 2010 into your shtick.

So with WhatsApp for instance you can 'pull down' on the notification when it comes in, and then get a bigger bubble with reply options.
When you see a WhatsApp notification from notification center, you can long press on it and reply like that without having to go to the app.
wow didnt actually know this. long pressing on notifications thingy.
Being able to preview a whole email without opening spark and replying to it is quite awesome.
Now it's the only way I know how to live.

These guys know their iOS.

I’m slowly getting my head around notifications but the whole swipe down and then up again is still a bit galling but I’ll probably survive, emotionally on the other hand I’m not so sure but I’m hanging in there, Tim Cook you cnt.

@airborne Don't overthink it. Embrace it as you would new tech. It'll be different from Android. I know my way around iOS. I just didn't know I could preview all these different things from the lockscreen by long pressing. Now I can see an email without opening it and even reply with no thanks right from the lockscreen in seconds. Love it!

I'll agree with you it was a bit weird at first (this only started with the last iOS update) but in time got pretty used to it and actually prefer the much cleaner and prioritised look.

iOS preview from the lock screen also keep the messages as unread in the app like Whatsapp. therefor you don't need to leave people blue ticked just unread until you ready to reply.:whistling:

I think there’s a glitch in WhatsApp and FB message because even if you reply from the notification it doesn’t show as read .

Not sure if its a glitch, but maybe its not expected to show as read as you not opening the message in the app itself.

But how could you not have read the message if Whatsapp is indeed showing that you replied to it?

Is there any reason why when using a BT external keyboard you can't select text with shift + arrow keys?
And shift + letter to get upper case, also not working

It's by design.

The whole idea is that you can "peek" without telling the app it's been read.

This on a phone or iPad?

If it's on a phone I would need to ask who the hell does that and need to test it.

If it's on iPad that has always worked for me, but I have only used it with official Apple keyboard.

Let me go try it quick.
