*deep breath* Calm, happy thoughts...
OK, ADSL line goes down randomly yesterday for no reason. No lightning, no high winds, just some random telkom guy working the streetbox on my corner, but really, it couldn't have been him that done it, really. So anyway, ADSL is dead. DEAD. No phone, no data. DEAD.
I phone Telkom. Normal on-hold-for-10-minutes-at-a-time HORSECRAP... I have to phone the fricking CUSTOMER SERVICE department to get them to phone the ADSL fault-logging department to log the fault!!
Breathe... breathe...
Fault logged. The line test says something is wrong at my end. Is my router plugged in? Oh, the phone line is also dead. Fault logged to the technical department.
I call in the evening. The guy at the other end says that it will take between 3 and 5 days for someone to come out. I say if someone doesn't come out tomorrow (this morning) I'll follow it up.
I follow it up. The guy in the ADSL call center says that due to the current number of faults in my area and the lack of available skilled personell, it will take up to THREE WEEKS for my line to be fixed!! Three weeks... How is this possible? Three weeks? The supervisor spins the same story. Dead fricking end. There is nothing more they can or WILL do.
I phone customer service. I'm desperate. I speak to a woman who sounds like she's about to hang herself by her headset. She almost cries when she sees my fault was only logged YESTERDAY. She sounds geuinely sad when she tells me there's nothing she can do. I should call back in two weeks, if my line is not fixed. OK, a week, she says, feeling sorry for me. It must have been the sobbing.
I would just like to know, if anyone knows, how it is even remote imaginable, even in this telecommunications HELL-HOLE, that it can take three weeks to repair an ADSL line fault?? Does anyone know who I can speak to? Does anyone know how to get hold of Papi and make him send someone out to my house today or at the latest tomorrow, to repair my line...
