MyBB Fam,

I recently bought this TV Card:
6628d1248949602-hauppauge-pvr-2250-dual-tuner-recordings-hvr-2250-model-1229-metal.jpg

Then I noticed that the antenna slot is different and from my not so comprehensive research, I gather that I must have an ATSC Antenna for it.

Problem: I am not sure where to go from here and so I need your help.

Question: Where can I get such an antenna here in RSA and if I can't get it anywhere how can I solve this problem?

I only want to watch TV during the World Cup...

Thanking you in advance.

BigM...

f type to coax connectors are great. they will work just fine for taking the aerial signal into the analogue tv card.

oh FSCK! did I just say analogue tv card? And yet, here we sit with a digital ATSC tv tuner, where ATSC is so fabulous it is used primarily in the United States (ATSC is a broadcasting standard, not an aerial type)

The card you show on the pictures here does have dual analogue tuners, as part of the avinput connector #1 on the lower part of the pictures and the svideo/composite #2 on the upper part,
the f-type connectors are for the digital input of an atsc signal, or if you are using it with a cable tv company that still provides you with an analogue signal (QAM, also not applicable to RSA)

good luck, but i fear the card is no good to you

If that is the case I think I might end up killing myself. I'll be disappointed hey.

But let me do more research and I will post back on my little adventure.

Hello again guys,

I've been trying hard to get this problem solved and there is a local store that recommended a 7DBI indoor antenna but after Googling this I couldn't find anything relating to its use for TV purposes.

Or am I missing something?

Thanks again to you all.

I don't want to be the one to piss on your battery here, but what do you want to do with an ATSC (American standard) card in a DVB-T (European Standard) country.....?

I only found out about that when the card arrived....

And now I have a problem and I need your help. What antenna do you recommend for that thing?

the antenna will not solve your problem. You need a different card. To get it working you will need to be INSIDE the USA.

What antenna do you recommend for that thing?

One MOERSE antenna would be required to receive signal all the way from America LOL.

Seriously though, if you REALLY want to fire it up, I'm pretty sure you could use a regular DVB-T antenna with satellite cable and F-Connectors.

Luke,

I am not ready to give up on the card yet as I have spent a lot to purchase it. I have contacted the manufacturer because if the card is made specifically for the US then why do they sell it to other countries?

So, I think there is a solution to all of this and all I can do now is to be patient and see how things go. I will update the MyBB family about what happens...

Thanks again everybody.

HTC_Guy,

I am planning to run it over the air.

I am not a TV type of guy really. I only bought this card to see a few games during the world cup...

Thanks,
BigM...
