Hey everyone, I have a BIG problem. About an hour ago somthing just started downloading from my computer and uploading to it like crazy! My modems LED is flickering alot and I can see in the connection status that something is downloading.

I used Netlimiter Monitor to try an see what it is and it shows LOTS of ip adresses uploading and downloading and I can't stop them. I did install limewire earlier, but then uninstalled it again.

My cap is being sucked dry :(:(:( , what can I do!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Thanx for any help!!

Zone Alarm. AVG, Spybot, all free. Use them all, now.

Also, check that its not the M$oft Automatic Updates, thought the multiple IP's doesn't suggest that...

Change rooter password, and your account password.

Switch your modem off and back on.

I'm using AVG pro and Trend micro internet security pro and they don't seem to worry at all that something is stealing my CAP, friggin stupid anti viruses!!!

Not to cause panic or anything, but do you have any sensitive info stored anywhere that they could use against you?? That might be what they were taking from you...

zone alarm is a firewall that will tell you which programs are using your internet connection. At least then you can find out what is going on...

Yes. And your account password with your sevice provider :)

OK Thanx, but I also want to know, will it help if I change my modems ip adress as well? If so how do I do that?

YES!!! I do all my banking from home and have various paswords on my PC!!!

Disconnect and reconnect normally changes ur IP address.

Give us more detail, what internet connection u using?

When did this start?

A lot of connections to ur pc sounds like p2p, normally trojans wont have that many connection

Possibly limewire made ur pc into a p2p node...

Changing ur username and password is pointless if its ur pc thats transferring the data.

I also suggest zonealarm, then u can pinpoint which program is doing this

Something like this happened to my other PC last week but with Soulseek, not Limewire .... eventually the only thing that worked was uninstalling it completely.

Nah, probably some dodgy oke off these forums...

All those that give "advice"- you never know what to believe on here...

the OP stated that he uninstalled Limewire.

It can be that you downloaded some dodgy content which contained a spam trojan which hijacked your PC.

Best is to get zonealarm up and see what's going on.

If it's a rootkit, then zonealarm won't pick it up.

OK but I already used netlimiter monitor to see and it says it is explorer.exe and alot of ip adresses listed under it, but I'll download ZoneAlarm now. By the way, can I go to the police and make a case about data theft?
