i hav win 7 64 bit installed on my pc (for a while now actually) and noticed that cetain keys on my keyboard are switched or non existant for example the at sign @ is not above the 2 its now above the single qoute and the pole key | is non existant also i have no idea where the backslash has gone... tried swapping the keyboards but the problem still exists.

i have checked my region setting and it is on south africa, all drivers are updated

Your keyboard is set as UK and not US

Type intl.cpl in start menu press enter then under keyboards and languages select change keyboards
Click change Keyboards
Click add
scroll down and select English (united States)-Keyboard-US
Click OK
From drop down select English (united States) - US
Click Apply
Click on the EN English (united Kingdom)
and Click remove
Click apply
Click Ok
Click OK

OK?

Jakes147 is right. Changing the keyboard to US settings will fix the layout of the keys. This is a very common occurrence on a handful of laptops, like the Toshiba Satellite.
