Please recommend a 3G router.

Hi guys

I have a Vodacom 3G modem model K3772-Z that i use for Internet at home. i would like to purchase a 3G router/wifi device that i can plug either the sim or 3G dongle to create a network for all my devices to connect to the Internet.

It needs to be relatively cheap, i have tried two modems but both did not support my 3G dongle.

Any ideas or recommendations?

I think both models were TP-LINK routers.

There are other options where you can put the simcard into the router - I never bothered to look at them, but a quick google might help you out. I have a Intellinet 300n 3G router which runs almost any 3G dongle, but I do not have a K3772-z with me to test it. Most of these 3G router manufacturers have modem compatibility lists on their sites.

The Asus is over R2k
The Intellinet is slightly over R500, but is limited to 7.2mbps

the thing is i just want to do basic browsing on my devices e.g laptop, TV, phone etc. so not really looking for any fancy router.

For what you want to do I'd just use my phone as a wifi hotspot then.

If you really want a router then get a D-link DSL-2750u, as I have that and the ZTE modem you're referencing and it works.

But like I'm saying, you have no need for a router if what you mention above is all you want to do.

Got a Huawei e5331 from vodacom.

No lan support but great little device.

10 pc's can connect via wi-fi at once and it is portable (battery so works in power failures).
Quick as well.

I have a Huawei B683 and I love it. You just put the SIM card in and it works.

It has 4 LAN ports, runs off a 5V 2A adapter, 21 Mps and supports an external 3G antenna.

Makro was selling them for R 1699. I got a couple at R1499 on special a few weeks back.

Hi There,
If you need a device then the Huawei is a good choice to go with.
If your phone does support wireless hotspot then that is going to be the less expensive option for you to use.
