Please recommend a vacuum cleaner

Anyone seen good vacuum cleaner deal lately ? Have an old wireless one that needs replacing but doubt you get any decent wireless ones so might option for a good old fashioned one.

What is your price range and other requirements?

edit: We got the Xiaomi G20 for R3009.30 (at 30% off the already discounted Takealot price of R4299, post #177) and are fairly happy so fair with it, the battery does die quite quickly if one runs it on high, so if one wants do to an entire small apartment in one go, then you have to run it on medium strength.

Yeah just general house cleaning, kitchen and beds (full of rusk crumbs every morning, already lost this fight with wife/todler).

ALso wondering if wet & dry or just normal dry is the way to go?

Can’t think when I’ve needed a wet vacuum cleaner in the last 10 possible even 20 years.

You try the ****up with a towel and then vacuum.

Fair enough, looks like a decent value option

I wouldn’t do bagless.

Karcher all the way.

I'm quite happy with my Karcher WD-4, it's extremely versatile. Having a wet/dry vac is really useful, you remove the bag when you want to use it for wet mode but can also use it bagless if you just don't want to use up bags for specific things - like I recently wanted to vacuum out sand from some astroturf which worked really well.

The filter is also really effective at keeping airborne dust out the air, just remember to replace it every now and then otherwise you will lose suction.

Have a WD4 myself, my comment was more around the fact that I wouldn’t specially go buy something for it doing wet work as it’s almost never actually happened for me.

Generally bagless amounts to it pushing it all out in the air and you ending up with more dust than you started with.

Karcher is a wee bit different there due to the design, but the bag still makes a big difference.

Also highly recommend a bagged vacuum. I previously had a bagless and they never last, are messy and the suction isn't nearly as good as a bagged vacuum.

I have a numatic henry and it is rock solid.

any (personal) reviews on robot vacuums?
We had a Xiaomi Robot vacuum. It's great especially if you have a pet that sheds. We got rid of it when we moved to a duplex as it can't do 2 floors (can't map 2 floors) so we have a corded wet/dry vacuum now (uses bags when not in wet mode).

I miss having the robot to just clean up the hair. Might get one again as taking out the corded one to vacuum quick is not it hey.

Any recommendations for a bag vacuum cleaner in this more portable size? Currently Bayless but thinking of going bagged.

I'm a bit pissed with Xiaomi at the moment.
Bought the S20+ in July 2025. Had to return it as it was not mapping almost immediately. Got sent a replacement. Now its bumper is apparently broken.
I emailed Xiaomi about it as Takealot is refusing a further replacement, but I've had no response yet.
I'm looking to replace it with a better-behaved robovac. Any recomendations?
My Xiaomi s20's motor stopped working after less than a year. My previous Xiaomi S10's mapping function stopped just outside of a year.

Prior to that, my foray into the Xiaomi'sphere started with their Smart Speaker. That thing struggled to connect to my wifi connection and it turned out to be a known issue.

I will never buy Xiaomi products again. Maybe a phone...
