Please recommend a vacuum cleaner

Electrolux or Karcher unless you want to go more fancy

Rainbow or Kirby has always been my total favourite, but they make Miele look cheap.

Yet the Rainbow can pretty much clean everything even spray extract while the Kirby has this lovely carpet washer.

Both are like the Kenwood Major/Chef (if you have any clue what those are) But like Rolls Royce/Lamborghinis of appliances. ie something passed down from generation to generation to generation because they simply does everything and work. You know the time when Swiss Army Knives started being such a rage.

My 0.02 - about 6 years ago I got sick of replacing yet another broken vacuum cleaner so I bought the kaercher WD6 on special. My only regret is that I should have done it earlier. The WD4 is likely all you need, but I was REALLY gatvol and needed some retail therapy, hence the WD6

For that budget you are only going to be buying another vacuum cleaner in a year or two’s time.

Ive allways had a bagless vacume cleaner .but found a small compact good deal.
But its not bagless .
So its a filter, which I assume traps dirt in. After how many vacummes do I replace it,? Are they expensive

I went for the karache wd2 plus. My place is small and wanted to save moent instead of going for the wd3 plus .

Looks like a smaller version of the WD4 I have. Should do the job just as well, only difference would be it filling up a bit faster I would imagine.

Only thing I would say is be careful of straining the cord. I have managed to pull mine right out of the housing, but it was actually a benefit because I just replaced it with a much longer cord.

Extra bags are pretty cheap (Makro) and I replace it maybe once a year at most because I just shake them out into the big outside bin in between.

Thanks for the advice, I didn't have a look how much the bags cost. Does ine size fit all for these wd2 wd3 wd4 etc

Power says 1000w wd3 was also 1000 but bigger L capacity.

I only have 2 rooms for carpets .
I wanted something compact because I dont have a garage

Yeah I think they are more or less universal across a number of models and all share the same connector.

So in your case it would just fill up inside the cavity even if the bag was bigger than the capacity itself.

You get the cheaper paper bags, but it will come with a cloth bag that it “breathes” through and those are the ones it comes with and I use.

Bag of 4. They are apparently washable but nobody has time for that.

I just shake them out over the bin and put them back in. Take ages for it to fill up anyway.

Mine must be at least 10 years old now and apart from the cord pulling out of the housing which was more than likely my fault, never a day’s issues.

Nah it’s the same one it comes with. You’ll only need to buy in a year or two.

How is the G10 going? I just ordered the G20, it should hopefully be good enough, seems a good price and getting an additional 15% 'discount' via FNB is taking a bit of the sting out of the purchase.

I'm a bit pissed with Xiaomi at the moment.
Bought the S20+ in July 2025. Had to return it as it was not mapping almost immediately. Got sent a replacement. Now its bumper is apparently broken.
I emailed Xiaomi about it as Takealot is refusing a further replacement, but I've had no response yet.
I'm looking to replace it with a better-behaved robovac. Any recomendations?

Yes, I've had one of those (but a Black & Decker) forever, and it really helps with the difficult crannies. It's almost a necessity when using a robovac.
