Please reduce power usage: Eskom

The other problem is that the coal industry and even the transport companies that deliver the coal, are often owned by comrades. So they charge high rates to Eskom, who they authorise to go ahead.

Dude ... it is like you have been reading my mind. I have seriously been wishing I had gotten onto that action for some years back.

Are we all supposed to cut back to F all and then go back to using candles like deepest darkest Africa.

Eskom....F0@D

I am in Pakistan at the moment, for another 2 weeks. Here in Islamabad we have around 4 hours of load shedding per day, for an hour at a time. So around 15% of the electricity used in the capital is generated privately, by generators. They also have an issue with power generation, according to locals. And little political will to fix it. To the point where a politician has publicly claimed that building hydro dams will leech the electricity out of the water and make it less usable/drinkable.

Finally someone who understands
Although the minister of energy or whatever, at that time, was part of the reason behind the no-building policy. No use trying to bring in competition when there is little or no profit margin... you can't be competitive at those prices.

Nah it's a fair bit more than that hey. But remember that they get high-voltage power, with no transformers in-between, so they skip all the extra components that push up prices.

With workers earning salaries of R600 000 pa on average your profit margin will always be low.
