Hi,

So been watching some series and stuff via plex for the first time in over a year.

I have not used plex server on my pc for a very long time so when I opened it I first had to update it then scan my series and movies folders.

I noticed that via the plex for android app series and movies stutter plenty, freeze and then reload, sound without video etc unless I tell plex to use vlc to play the stream and then obviously plex cannot/does not remember what I have watched or how far into an episode I am.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Does not seem to be cpu or network issues.
Playing via wireless N router plugged into the server with a cable.
Server has 4GB ram, Windows 7, Core 2 Duo 2.7GHz cpu and some Cheapish 2GB Nvidia GPU (if that even matters).

Howsit,

You might need to set the scaling, are you finding that this happens to high quality videos?DO you have the latest version of plex?

How did you confirm it's not CPU or Wireless issues?

Does it stutter or stop?

Recently on Windows 10 I found that the Windows Defender anti-virus was doing some funky crap while trying to play movies so have a look at that.

Also check the Newtranscoder.exe isn't maxing out your CPU in Task Manager while trying to play the files.

Is your Android device getting full signal where it's sitting?

What happens if you are closer to the router?

What is your local transcoder quality set to on the client device? I find inversely to what is expected that often setting it higher (20MB/Unlimited) is better than lower, presumably because it needs to transcode less.

I tried setting the scaling and it helps a bit but becomes unwatchable anything smaller than 768kbps
Thing is when transcoding and using vlc to stream I can watch up to 2Mbps no issues and even some bigger sizes if kodi is not running on the server at the same time.

My cpu usage sits at around 60% when transcoding (total usage, not just newtranscoder).
And VLC plays the stream flawlessly.

Where I sit does not have full signal but see vlc comments and also, standing right next to the router makes little to no difference.
I have tried most of the quality settings and no real difference. If I use VLC it works, if I use plex's built in player it stutters.

Yes, depends. Some devices cannot handle higher bitrates very well though so you'll have to set it lower. Depends a lot on the source bitrate too.

I am currently doing all the available system updates on the tablet, will see how it goes after that.

Not sure if its related, but i had a similar issue with the Home Theater App. Got the solution here.

Is it all your video's

I have had issues with streaming blue ray quality over wifi. (Using plex app on the PS3)

I stream from Plex to my TV and I have the same prob. I stop then play then stop then play a couple of times then it comes right.

No I don't know anymore.

I set up VLC and watched some files I copied to the tab. First few worked then it just stopped.

I then took VLC off and put mx player on.

Now plex is Working much better (still freezes for half a second every now and then) and local stuff plays again.

Thing is I only downloaded VLC after I got the plex issues.
