Plex Thread

Ran it for a few hours but then realized that I do not need all this info in my life
I love all the data it gives especially to check why something is randomly transcoding instead of direct playing.

And then I also have it set to kill any stream paused for longer than 5 minutes and to kill any remote transcoding that isn't me.

Not that I don't love Tautulli (it's my child after all), but you can kill streams from the Plex dashboard and set a pause time limit too.

But can I do it so precisely?

I have mine specifically set to kill any remote transcoding that is not me.

Decision is transcode
Location is WAN
Username is not Soul

Firstly, thank you for introducing me to Tautulli, I have installed it and I am eager to see what stats it can show me in the coming weeks. I will use it in conjunction with Plex Dashboard (a useful app for when I am not at home).
I have been running Plex on my Windows 2012 server at home for a few years, recently moved it to a VM so that its not behind my server's VPN (for downloading linux ISOs).
My family views the content (which is not subject to any copyright) on my server. I have all the players (varies from Ematic AGT419s to PlayStations and Samsung TVs) all using Direct Stream so that there is very little load on the PMS VM.

Go and update your servers to 1.22.0 and try out the new TV agent beta.

Something I've personally been working on for a while now so would appreciated any feedback and bug reports, info over here: https://forums.plex.tv/t/beta-new-plex-tv-series-scanner/696242

Mmmmmm, interesting.

I had not opted to try the new tv agent but I noticed my synced tv series library was showing up blank and unpopulated. I’ve manually forced a library sync. With the library being accessed via a mapped rcloned google drive, syncing literally takes days.

I changed the agent on my server over the weekend. I agree that there is more info available after the metadata refresh. There are also many more posters to choose from on the series that I did spot-checks on.

Only problem was that the "on deck" list of episodes was cleared.

Hmm, that shouldn't happen. Have you restarted the server?

Also do you see this behaviour on both the home screen "Continue Watching" and the TV library "On Deck"?

A bit more info: Initially I tested on 2 TV series that were on deck. With both of them, the next episode disappeared from on deck after metadata was refreshed. The files for these 2 series were still intact and I could see that the metadata had been updated. Trailers are also available that was not previously available. I then tested on a 3rd series and the on-deck thumbnail for that series also disappeared after updating the metadata.

I do have a fairly recent backup of the database, so I bit the bullet and updated metadata for all series. As previously stated, "on deck" was wiped.

I did not restart the server, but the thumbnails were missing both on the Home screen and the TV Shows screen.

These thumbnails are repopulating as we watch episodes, so the information is being pulled to the on deck segments of Home and TV Shows.

I'd suggest you post something on the Plex forum thread (https://forums.plex.tv/t/beta-new-plex-tv-series-scanner/696242) and post your logs - it's easier for me to pick everything up from there.

I haven't seen anybody else report your issue yet, in fact the opposite is happening and too much stuff is appearing in On Deck when changing agents (this is a separate issue though that's getting fixed in the next release).

Since about last week, my girlfriend can't play anything on Plex anymore. She is using an Hisense TV, (will confirm the module). I know Hisense cancelled support for Plex in September.... But it use to work until last week.
