Plex Thread

Noticing Plex is not playing anything on my Lit box. Getting an error "An error occured while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again"

Connection is fine, can play netflix, youtube, can even browse my Plex Catalogue, will even say, "resume from xx:xx minutes...". But then get the error

Works fine on Mi Box, Smart TV, and even phone.

Anybody else been having issues?

(i uninstalled and re-installed the app, same issues)

Is that running Android TV? Would need the logs, you can look here on how to get them: https://support.plex.tv/articles/201573117-android-android-tv-fire-tv-logs/#toc-1

You can PM them to me and I'll see what I can find.

No worries, just to confirm - does playback work fine from elsewhere (e.g. the browser or mobile apps)?
Yes playback is find on my phone, Smart TV, Mi Box etc.

The logs are huge what do i need to send you?

I noticed sometimes when using Plex
App on LG OLED TV, I would get the same issue for some videos only. Turns out it happens sometimes when you turn on subtitle and the specific subtitle causes ****. Turning off subtitle and choosing another one would allow the TV to play the video. The app remembers the subtitle setting (per file) so even closing and opening app would result in issue reoccurring making you think video was faulty

Anyway hope that helps ...

Some advice would be appreciated:

I have a Telkom LIT box that generally works well. Unfortunately, the Plex app does not play the audio for many videos. (Well known issue)

I have recently loaded Kodi (Version 19.1) and installed the Kodi Plex add-on. This seems to have resolved the audio issues, but it takes more than a minute before a video starts! On the native Plex app, videos start quickly.

It also takes more than 1 minute for the video to restart if I go into the setting of that video while it is playing. After exiting the setting window, the whole system locks up until the video resumes (1 to 2 minutes).

Edit: Never mind. This is s known issue that was first reported on Github on 28 Feb.

Looks like I need to side-load V18.x

Hey everyone. Any help here would be appreciated. Friend of mine has a server he shares with me. My account is added as a “home user” on his side. Since he moved into a new place all videos I play on my side gets downgraded to 480p, not able to play anything at higher/original quality. Got a hunch it’s a double NAT issue but figured I’d come her to ask what it could be, and if it is a double NAT issue how can we get it sorted out?
Thanks!

Are both your internet connections fast enough? Particularly his upload speed.

I used to have issues playing back full HD remotely when my connection at home was 10 Mbps.

It is probably his upload bandwidth that changed and his bandwidth is not enough to stream on full quality. If he has plex pass he can limit the remote streaming quality, but doubt he did that since you were able to stream in higher quality before. Doubt it is an double NAT issue since you wouldn't able to reach his server in that case. In any case, I have found ZeroTier is a good way to get around double or carrier grade NAT.
But I'm no @DrJohnZoidberg, he'll probably be able to tell you. PS @DrJohnZoidberg I love plex, thanks for all you guys are doing.

Plex routes streams via their own servers if your server port cant be reached, at a very low quality

So I don’t think it’s his bandwidth, he has a 100/100 line and I use a 50/25 down/up respectively. It does show his server is accessible outside his network.

Something I forgot to mention, it seems random but I do sometimes get a message saying I’m not connected directly to the server.

He can try disable remote access and re enable, sometimes the plex directory gets confused

I’m sure he did that but we will try again!

The indirect playback message also kind of makes me think I can’t actually reach his server and plex is just using relay at a low quality?
