Hi,

I am trying to set up my adsl on a pc with windows me but nothing I try works. I have 5 other pc on my network (win xp) and it works fine on all of them. I entered the dns address into the win me pc just like all the others, all the settings seem to be the same. If somebody knows a solution please help

thx

I used to run adsl on windows me before changing to windows 2000 prof.

You need to go to http://www.carricksolutions.com/raspppoe.php and download a new PPPOE client - filename RASPPPOE - and install this. Make sure to first delete your old PPPOE client. All the instructions and download are on the given webpage.

Enjoy.

Hi, thx for your help but it didnt work. The thing is, on all the other computers I just entered the dns address mweb gave me and everythig worked. No dial-up connection, no usernames, no passwords. Just the dns addresses and my connection works without me having to log on. I tried it on the Me computer but it didnt work. What can I do because I'm getting pretty desperate here.

Check your gateway address as well.

It would be the IP address of yje adsl modem or the machine which contains the adsl card

How many PC's do you have running? Which router are you using? Is it pre configured to login to mweb's ADSL offering? There must be a username and password, but maybe Mweb pre configured the router to do the negotiations...

Cheers

Hi,
How do I find out what my routers ip adrress is? I have the router you get from Telkom. I have 5 other pc on my network, (all running xp) and on them I only entered the dns mweb gave me, no gateway. The router is connected to a hub and the others pcs are also connected to the hub. I did set up the modem on the one pc by entering the routers ip address into explorer and filling in a form where i put in my password ect., but there was no need to do it again on the other pcs.

Good day

It should be 192.168.10.200 if you want to log into it and look around in its config. Some links in this forum you might want to look at:
