Plugg Uncapped ADSL Feedback

I'm actually rather pissed off with your accounts department. I applied for my pugg account on the 31st of last month and then sent through my documents on the 1st of this month just to confirm my banking details.
When i got the confirmation that the account had been activated i checked my details on your site and it said that everything was paid up in full. So i assumed that the debit order had gone through when the details were confirmed.

On Saturday(8th) i got an sms saying that R429 was returned from Plugg. I then went and got a bank statement and found that on 8th you guys tried to take the debit order for this months payment.

The debit batch for PluGG was delayed due to errors on the batch as a result it was only processed on the 6th June 2013. I have asked accounts to reactivate your account in the meantime, and that they contact you.

Morning,

Clears things up some, I assumed certain business critical functions were exempt from shaping, in my case mail, browsing, Google services.

+1, I'd like to know which, if any, services are exempt from shaping.

As mentioned before; All the uncapped accounts make use of a progressive priority system. In other words, if your usage is high, generally the top 20% of the users, your network priority will be dropped; this starts by dropping the priority of downloading protocols. If you remain a top user eventually all of your usage will be low priority.

Business critical functions are not exempt from shaping on our consumer packages. The system looks at all usage and the availability of bandwidth as explained.

I phoned earlier and spoke to someone and they said as soon as payment is in then they will be able to activate my account. Not sure if that was before or after you spoke to them but still havnt received a call.

Anyways I'm trying to make the payment today so that everything is sorted out.

I can confirm that your account is currently active. Lebo said she would phone you.

Ill follow up in a bit with her again.

Hi Janitor

Thanks for your help with my account today. All is back up and working now.

Only have a small problem that youtube is terrible and I spend a few minutes at a time buffering a 30sec clip.

I'm also having issues streaming from Akamai/Google servers this week. Every day between 11:45-6PM (or so) Google services become extremely sluggish and slow, and I can't stream music from Simfy (they use Akamai) - buffers every 3-4 seconds. If I change to my Afrihost account, everything works fine. Maybe I'm being heavily shaped, but downloads and latency are all in acceptable ranges.

I've submitted a support ticket, but was wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same thing?

I am on the trial account for plugg (4m uncapped) and everything seems great except for video streaming. Video's (720p)on youtube keeps buffering the whole time. Never had this issue with my previous isp.

Same problem I'm having unfortunately.

Also cant stream on twitch.tv at 720p. This is one of my main things i use my account on and its not performing as i want.

How did you find out your star rating if you're a Plugg uncapped customer?
I can't find it anywhere?

I PM'd Janitor with my username. I asked about when we will be able to do it ourselves and he said they still working on it, not as simple as a new website, a lot of behind the scene's stuff aswell. Unfortunately, no ETA yet.

I have been having an issue with news servers. Here is my beef. I am on 4 stars. I limit download to 23:00 till 6:00, as per the guidelines.

My Astraweb connections (1 or / to 20) is limited combined to 200kbps on 4mbps line. If I use plugg's news server, it is full speed. If I switch to another account (afrihost), Astraweb go flat out again to line speed.

Anyone else having a similar issue / experience. It is mighty annoying.

I download from 1-6am - some netflix and youtube between 6pm onwards (not everyday as I have stuff on hdd to watch), don't use Astraweb anymore (couldn't find a lot of stuff so why pay extra for that?) only plugg news and torrents for the stuff I can't NNTP.

NNTP and private trackers always line speed (420kB) after 5pm, netflix HD, youtube 720p no buffering, public trackers are always a lucky packet but usually end on a good ave speed. I have to admit to netflixing sometimes during the day which is what's probably hurt my star rating.

No complaints here :) but I see you are on the other side of the country, I've been seeing a lot of complaints from users on several ISP's in the western cape, ie: blame telkom. I wonder if that has anything to do about it?

The issue appear to be limited to Plugg. Astraweb is flat out on Afrihost when I switch to that account.

Is it only NNTP slow? I've never found one protocol to be slower, always behaved like unshaped.

Hope you come right because I shudder to think where else there is to go after here if I have any similar problems.

For some reason I thought you were using news.is.co.za for nntp (which we classify as local traffic; local traffic gets contended slightly less).

Now that you clarified that you are using Astraweb could you tell me how many connections you are making to Astraweb?

As a general rule, we treat NNTP in the same category as torrents.

As per my PM to you; we are prioritizing streaming using known protocols for streaming; I have made contact with Simfy to find out what protocols they are using and ips of their server to see how we can resolve this for you.

Will let you know once it is sorted

YouTube streaming has been pretty bad the last two days. I haven't been able to do 720p, now the auto resolution is putting me at 240p.

4Mbps uncapped.
